Overview
About Me
Former 13-year expatriate, lived in Japan and Australia while traveling extensively in the Asia Pacific region. Also Europe to a lesser degree. Back in the US 20 years now and loving life in Colorado!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I received so much from other people on my travels -- now I'd like to give back and meet some new people.
Interests
My interests are many and varied - papermaking and Asian arts, woodworking and "making" in general, the outdoors, healthy living (you wouldn't guess my age from meeting me...) photography, politics (how can you not be?) and, of course, travel!
Music, Movies, and Books
As for music, my go-to fave is Thievery Corporation but also Cuban and other Latin music, Buddha Bar, some classic oldies like Eurythmics and also new music I haven't heard but want to. I try to see most of the best new movies - likely what's been nominated for awards. Not much into watching something I've seen before, with the exception of truly timeless classics.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Spent a month in Tibet in 1985 (yes, when everyone still wore Mao suits and Shanghai looked like 1945), traveling from Lhasa to Shigatse to Gyantse and culminating in a failed hitch-hiking attempt to Everest base camp.
Teach, Learn, Share
Wow, whatever I can - just ask!
