About Me

ABOUT ME

I'm a 27 year old guy who has moved around a bit. Until I was 18, I lived on the Wirral near Liverpool. Then I moved to Manchester and in July 2012, I moved to London for a job. I now work for Betfair as a computer programmer in Hammersmith.
I left this section til last and not really sure what else to put here, without repeating myself from the other sections.

PHILOSOPHY

Theres loads of places (Asia, South America, Africa, North America again) I want to go to before I die and a lot of things (skydiving, white water rafting) and I want to try too.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I joined CS in 2008 when I was in America after an American told me about it. At first, I thought I'd use it to save money and prolong my trip. Then I loved the experience. I started hosting when I came back. I hung out with the locals back at home and starting running a 2-weekly night out where I met my girlfriend.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

As above, where I discussed how I participate. Memorable ones: I was once at the airport in Las Vegas and found a last minute couch at my destination, Washington DC. He came and picked me up from the airport and hosted me for 1 night. That was his first experience and think I left a good impression of CS.

Another memorable one: In Vegas I met a couple of CSers - we stayed with the same host. I went to visit them in Albany, New York just for a little bit. I ended up staying with them for a month because I loved their company and we're still in touch.

Interests

I play poker well. I won the 'North West Student Poker Championship' in 2010, went to Vegas for 5 weeks and made a profit, and have made a bit online, but only playing for micro stakes. I do it because I enjoy it, not to make money. But I enjoy it more when I win!
I play hockey (field hockey, not ice hockey). I play the guitar. I like to cook fancy things sometimes. I'm a Liverpool fan but I dont play football much, I just watch - and play hockey instead.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like reading, I'm mostly into crimes and thrillers - I loved the girl with the dragon tattoo series. I like movies, mostly action and comedy and my favourite films are 21 grams (if you haven't seen it, watch it!) and the green mile.
Music, I'm into pretty much anything with guitars apart from folk music. That is, indie, rock, metal... not pop!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Travelled around the USA for 5 months, and the highlight was seeing the grand canyon - seeing pictures of it just doesn't compare.

I'd like to be able to add skydiving here but I haven't done it yet. And I'd like to cycle from Southport to Hornsea (west coast of England to East coast) on the Transpenine trail but I've only done Liverpool to Manchester.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to play hockey. Its actually similar to football, just as fast paced, and is quite dangerous (despite the fact that many men think its a 'girls game'). I have gotten friends to play who were surprised at how fast paced it was and changed their opinion of the sport.

And watching olympics hockey at Hyde Park, I overheard a couple of guys saying it was actually fun to watch and decided to stick with it instead of the boxing.
