Me in a nutshell: I'm a 26 year old American, born in Hawaii and raised on the East coast in North Carolina. Calm, friendly, and adventurous by nature. I appreciate the outdoors, delicious food, and good friends.

The past two years I have been working as an English teacher on Japan's southern island, Kyushu. This time was a great wake up call for me; I learned how little I really know about this big world. Where before I found it daunting, now I jump at the opportunity to be placed in a foreign situation/environment.

To make new friends and to open my mind to new ideas. I am inspired by the people I have met on Couchsurfing. One English man had a particular impression on me, he was riding his bicycle around the world! The idea of somebody doing this amazed me and to actually see someone doing it was living proof that something so crazy could be done. His actions alone were enough to inspire me to pack my belongings in two small bags and do a one month bicycle tour in Northern Japan.

Time is never wasted when outdoors. Being in nature makes happy as a clam. Good conversation is also a favorite of mine.
