About Me

ABOUT ME

32/M from Boulder, CO and recently living in the Bay Area (San Francisco and Oakland). Super laid back and chill :) I'm doing the "once in a lifetime adventure" thing, and would love to find fun people that can guide me in any direction that makes my experience unforgettable! I'm a Sommelier and Certified Specialist of Wine with a Culinary Degree and extensive work in the fine dining community. I'm looking forward to seeing as many wine regions as possible, all the while enjoying the adventure first and foremost. If I don't make it to a single region, I will still be happy that I at least made it out to Europe :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Air B&B is much less personal than Couchsurfing.org seems. I'm quite independent, but enjoy being social. I'd love to meet new people and enjoy everything that their culture has to offer. I'm a very kind and personable person that is always tidy and considerate. For those reasons, it seems to only make sense that I should try Couchsurfing :)

My current goal is to travel Europe and explore, but my focus would be to work the grape harvest for 2015. I would be happy to work in most any wine region, but my preference would involve: Priorat, Montsant, Rioja, Piedmont, Alsace, Rhone, Mosel.

Interests

Food & Wine, sports, traveling, learning, stuff & things etc. I'm really like a sponge and absorb & learn quickly. While traveling, I've looked into teaching English, working the grape harvest and even a goat farm where they milk goats and make cheese! People also fascinate me quite a bit, and I want to find that common human element across the globe that we all posses.

Music, Movies, and Books

Lots of different types of music, but nothing that is a passion for me. I love everything from Hip-hop to Country and back around to EDM, Oldies and 80s Pop. I have a playlist which I would like to expand on titled: Not English

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

This is probably it. I bought a one-way ticket to Paris. I don't know anyone here in Europe, and I have no idea how I will get around or manage, but that's part of the fun, right?

Teach, Learn, Share

I can always teach you about wine! If you are learning English, I am fairly well spoken and should be able to help you out gramatically and with vocabulary.

I want to learn more about the wine world, but also know that this encompasses much more than just grapes. Geography, History, Law, Science, Culture, Language, Weather etc. all of this is part of the wine world and one of the reasons why I enjoy it so much. It isn't just fun and drinking. Wine is an all encompassing subject that requires a substantial amount of learning. I hope to make all of it more tangible by not just tasting it, but by using my other 4 senses to make a lasting impression.

I guess I can't share much except stories and some good wine. I'm looking to make memories to add here.

What I Can Share with Hosts

With my hosts, I will happily pop a couple corks with some great food. We can teach each other recipes or just have a bite from the local food cart. I just look forward to conversation and sharing experiences most.
