About Me

Now that I'm in my mid-sixties everything seems to be working out splendidly. Things that used to bother me no longer do. I recommend this decade, especially to all who haven't reached it...hang in there.

I love my job, which is writing fiction.

see http://claireoshetsky.com for more about my books, if you like.

I have a distinctive name and you will be able to find out more about me if you need to, online.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Evidently I signed up in 2017, but I'm new to Couchsurfing as far as practical experience goes. I'm leaving for an aimless two-week road trip from Boulder Creek, California to Washington State, starting May 30 2024, and I thought I'd give it a try. I really enjoy meeting people a lot and I'm intrigued by you all.

Music, Movies, and Books

books: see https://www.goodreads.com/author/show/17334435.Lark_Benobi ... I read a lot.

I tend to love movies of all kinds, very arty ones, and also, very ridiculous ones...first movie I love in the "arty" zone that comes to mind is Dersu Uzala...as for the ridiculous category, I may have watched "Romy and Michele's High School Reunion" eleven million times by now.

Music: I really love contemporary classical music. I love going to concerts of premiers that haven't been recorded yet.

My favorite living musician is Patricia Taxxon at https://patriciataxxon.bandcamp.com, or here is a song I love--

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

hmm.

This month I sang Bach's Mass in B Minor as a member of the Cabrillo Symphonic Choir, along with the Santa Cruz Symphony, and that seems pretty amazing to me at least because 6 years ago I was too shy to sing anything, and this was the most difficult music I've ever tried to master, and I feel pretty good about the outcome. I'm also glad it's over. And I'm excited for next year's program, when we'll be singing Morton Lauridsen's "Lux Aeterna" in the fall and the Mozart Requiem in the spring. Should be fun.

here is a link to Lux Aeterna, in case you're not familiar--very lovely music imo--
