About Me

CURRENT MISSION

(Re)write the world.

ABOUT ME

My life is a fairy tale. In a typical day I wake up, breakfast, grab a mug of black, strong coffee and, still in pajamas, sit on my desk to write under the light of a table lamp. Through the wide window in front of my desk I can see the city waking up, and people leaving their houses to follow their daily routine. How many of them were dreaming of giving themselves to writing, music, painting, but got trapped in their office jobs under the masks of businessman, lawyers, or engineers? In those mornings, passing in their cars on the road under my window, they are the background on which my thoughts settle on paper. I keep writing until my watches show that it is time for yoga.

What makes my life a fairy-tale is that I get payed for that. Payed to wake up everyday and do what I love and would pay to do. Sure, it is not a fortune, but it is more than enough for a minimalist who loves traveling with little stuff and no hurry, searching for what really matters.

I want to write more than just books. I want to write seeds of social changes. Currently, I am writing a fiction and a nonfiction book whose settings are the Soviet Union. The drive behind both is the belief that the greatest social experiment of all time left valuable lessons for posterity, and those lessons can help us to re-think our society. Soviet citizens were real people. they loved, they wept, they danced, they laughed, they shared pain and joy. Contrary to popular belief, in many ways they were closer to the ideals of John Lennon's Imagine than we are.

I put my soul in my writing, keep writing, and cling to the hope that it will make difference. Because "nature gives us thirty years or a hundred, a quill pen or it's equivalent, and odd thoughts that need to settle on paper or else turns to dust."

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most lovely memories from my childhood are related to sea or water. Sailing and trips to islands and waterfalls with my family and friends. I remember that every time the full moon was on a weekend we sailed to a desert, little island called Island of Love to camp on the beach. We sat around the fire listening to the stories the adults were telling. Sometimes my brothers and me hunted little crabs which could hardly be seen under the dim light of the moon, whose beautiful reflex on the water mirror set the perfect background for our play.
In my memories that place feels like a heaven on earth. It was our heaven. In those moments, far away from the comfort and amenities of modern life, illuminated only by the moon and the fire, we were truly connected to each other and to nature. It was a celebration of friendship and love. We would leave next day dreaming about our next trip to that paradise.
As we grew older and my family wealthier that connection began to fade. We changed the little island for fashionable beaches. We changed the little tents for big houses. We changed stories around the fire for music in cars. We thought all those changes were for better, but they all led us further away from friendship and love.
