About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To experience as much as possible as this life can offer.

ABOUT ME

I am an eternal optimist, who is extremely difficult to upset. Life is too short for bad times so I try to see the best in everything. I play and enjoy music in nearly every form it can take, but enjoy it most when I see it played live. Currently I am traveling Europe and a bit of Asia in the hope of expanding my understanding of the world and all it's people.

I was born and raised in New Zealand and am greatly aware of how narrow a view of the world one can have. Where possible I have tried to meet and stay with local people as I have traveled in the hope of having a more genuine experience of each country, but it is not always easy. Then I heard about couch surfer and I thought to myself 'this is exactly what I have been looking for.' So now I hope to have some truly local experiences with some of the generous members of the couch surfer community.

Likewise I hope to give other travelers the same opportunities in New Zealand. I live in a small town next to the sea that is quiet, peaceful and very relaxing.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe the world is a beautiful place and it is up to us to keep it that way. Only through generosity, compassion and sharing can we hope to keep the world a beautiful place.

People shouldn't be afraid of their governments, governments should be afraid of their people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am new to couch surfer so for now, I hope to be a friendly and conscientious guest, and after that a generous and hospitable host. I look forward to meeting you all.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Most experience's I have had on couch's have been through random meetings while traveling and all of these have been fantastic. For someone to open their house to a complete stranger is a wonderful thing to see and experience and I thank them all. I also take in heaps of travelers whenever the chance arises and house and feed them. It is so good to see someone start a community like this.

Interests

Hmmmm, Music is a part of my life I could not live without. It cleanses the mind of all sorts of troubles.

I also enjoy building my home, and am starting to develop a love for my garden.

Traveling as much as I have the time and money to allow.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like music in every form but have a particular preference for reggae and roots music. I also like old RnB, soul, motown, Blues, Jazz, the list is huge. As long as it is live, I am not fussy what it is.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Climbed Mount Taranaki under a full moon at night and watched the sun come up from the summit. Was beautiful seeing the moon and sun on each side of the sky. The colours were amazing.

Played a gig in front of 3000 people at an easter festival in 2009, was the biggest ever for me and ton's of fun. Opened gigs for some of New Zealands best roots bands.

Been swimming on horseback in the ocean in Vanuatu.

Sailed an old sailing boat for 10 days down the coast of New Zealand.
