关于我

25, teacher & explorer of languages, PhD student, ukulele player, crazy rat lady.

我为什么加入 Couchsurfing

I love visiting foreign countries and moving around. So far I have studied and lived in Warsaw, Jerusalem and in Berlin. Right now I travel mostly for fun and for music festivals. I like meeting new people, and especially I would love to connect with the ukulele community around the world.

兴趣

Literature - both reading and researching it, ancient and modern languages (Greek, Latin, Hebrew, Yiddish, Aramaic), music (I play the uke and the banjolele and occasionally do some Sacred Harp singing), board games, pet rats (I'm a proud momma of Slavoj and Zizek, two husky rat brothers). And food (just eating, though).

音乐、电影和书籍

MUSIC. I love American folk music - everything Bob Dylan, Pete Seeger, Joni Mitchell - but also some contemporary stuff like Fleet Foxes, Sufjan Stevens ("Carrie and Lowell" is a masterpiece) or The Tallest Man on Earth. Also: progressive rock from the 70s (Van der Graaf Generator is my pick at all times), THE CURE!!!, Current 93, and recently I'm starting to get into rap (Kendrick Lamar and Noname).
Worth mentioning: Sacred Harp singing gives me shivers.

BOOKS. Due to my job and the university, I mostly read modern Hebrew textbooks and Jewish literature from the Second Temple period. Maybe that's why, when I finally have some couch time, I like long novels with a high level of immersion. My recent favorites are Jeffrey Eugenides, Jonathan Franzen, and Karl Ove Knausgard. Dostoyevsky, always.
I also geek out on Homer and epic poetry from around the world. My favorite poet of all time is Saul Tschernichowsky, you've probably never heard of him unless you're from Israel (where he's a quite popular street name), but I can go on about him for hours. You might not want to let me.

MOVIES. I've recently entered the stage in my life where I mostly go to the cinema for awesome visual effects and lots of explosions. But... COEN BROTHERS. I love all of their stuff and I honestly think a lot of it is bordering on genius, especially when it comes their approach to Jewish motifs. That's why I'm crazy about Noah Hawley's FARGO, the TV series.
Also: Asghar Farhadi, who feeds my dramatic streak. And anything with Mark Duplass on its cast.
More TV series: Westworld, Hannibal, House of Cards, Twin Peaks, The Night Of, Preacher, PARKS AND RECREATION (Leslie Knope is my spirit animal when it comes to sense of humor... oh wait...)
