About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To explore the world and find my place in its immeasurable vastness.
ABOUT ME
I am a science student at the University of British Columbia. I have been travelling by bicycle since the age of 18, I have found that some of my best work was done road. Since my primary hobby these days is photography, I cant wait for the summer to plan tours and really get out and capture some of the beauty of this world every year.
I have been working retail since the age of 16, and living on my own since the age of 17. I like biology and english in school, math and chemistry not so much. I took a course in sustainable science or environmental sciences, in which I was very interested in the content and the way we can aim to improve the quality of this earth in this every-so-growing problem of pollution and global warming. This topic has been growing on me, and perhaps may be a career path I choose to follow.
PHILOSOPHY
Some may find it hard to understand why I like it out in the wild more than the comfort of my own home. There is something to be said about hedonic adaptation I suppose, and every fibre of my being wishing me to not succumb to a mundane routinely fashioned life. At least not until I make my mark on this planet! My parents have always raised me with the mentality of, "No pain, no gain." So ever since I was quite young, I was always able to grit my teeth in order to achieve my dreams.
Being a student, I am not the wealthiest man on the planet, but I am more than capable of doing work for a bed and a meal. With my trips and cycling, I really just aim to improve my own person, and through that hope to motivate others to do the same. I am inspired by many people in my life, and the philosophy of Elliot Hulse, is one of them. "To always aim to become the strongest version of yourself, so that you may invoke that same fire in the hearts of those around you." I am fuelled by those who tell me they are moved by what I do; for me that is the ultimate reward.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I took a leadership role when I was younger, representing my high school in an event called 2012 The Ride to Conquer Cancer. In which we raised thousands for cancer research. To top off the event, I conquered the challenge route, cycling from Vancouver to Seattle, and at the age of 17, being the youngest individual to do so.
I always thought I would go into medicine in university, of which now I'm not too sure. Although as I was growing up I always volunteered, and took courses in the field of medicine. This has really opened my eyes to the toughness this world has to offer, and how important it is to take care of your body and mind.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love most music. I'm not really specific to one particular genre, as long as it is done well, I can often appreciate the quality.
Favourite movies:
7 Pounds
The Grey
Pursuit of Happiness
Into the Wild (No I'm not running from home)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I am a man of quotes, they move me and make me think.
Here are some I live by on a daily basis:
"There is no medicine like hope, no incentive so great, and no tonic so powerful as expectation of something tomorrow."
"All the forces in the world are not as powerful as an idea whose time has come."
"Never give up on what you really want to do. The person with big dreams is more powerful than the one with all the facts."
"Nature is so powerful, so strong. Capturing its essence is not easy - your work becomes a dance with light and the weather. It takes you to a place within yourself."
"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do, so throw off the bowlines, sail away from safe harbor, catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore, Dream, Discover."
Teach, Learn, Share
All those I mentioned above! I'll be the first to admit, there is much to learn for me, and although I am young I have much to teach I believe. I am not naive to the fact that people my age get a bad reputation for being degenerate. I suppose I'm here to change those mindsets, If given the chance.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'll be honest, I still have a lot to learn as a person. It is a steady process and one which i hope to continue with until i pass away. I think knowledge is beauty, because not only do i believe that in order to really judge something you must have learnt all about it and tried it, but I also believe that knowledge will help me to find what it is that id like to do for the rest of my life. So learn learn learn. Although despite this learning, i feel that I may have some qualities that would justify me as a teacher as well. I could talk for hours about battling though the california desert by bike, and braving the beautiful rolling coast of Oregan by the same means. Or even the lack of sound and eerieness of some northern British Columbian parts. Its all just the beginning for me though, I cant say ive stumbled through much trouble in my life, but rather that ive persued it, for the sole purpose of character building and understanding, beauty-seeking and reminiscing. :P I think ill leave it at that, but if youd like to check out a little more about me and my work, feel free to take a quick glance at my website! connorgsg3.wix.com/benevolent
