One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went to the Philippines a few years ago with my father to to visit some battlefields where my grandfather fought in ww2 and also tour around and have some fun. We were in Manila on Christmas eve and my dad had the idea to hire a bike taxi and purchase 250 box meals (chicken, rice, steamed veggies) and walk around downtown and hand them out to the homeless. The people were so grateful for a such a small thing, and they would be hungry in the morning, but tonight they were content. Thats when i realized how lucky we have it here in the US, when i have a bad day i try and put it in perspective.
In the summer of 2011 i went to Yosemite National Park in early June. If you haven't been to Yosemite, i would highly recommend it to everyone to go at some point in your life. Anyway, the spring runoff was unusually high because of the hot spring weather. So all over the valley, cascading from the granite faces were hundreds of waterfalls. One near the park entrance was called ribbon falls, it usually runs for a couple of months with not a lot of water volume, only now it was gushing. I hiked to the base of it, the mist was howling down through the canyon, and at a force strong enough to knock you down. I looked up a thousand feet at the source, a river on top was dispersed into mist by the time it reached the bottom. I remember being completely in the moment, and feeling completely alive and rejuvenated.
