Sobre mí
CURRENT MISSION
See breathtaking and inspiring places. Develop new friendships. Grow community.
ABOUT ME
I'm a former Wisconsin farm girl/current AmeriCorps VISTA trying to explore the world and build community, especially through urban gardening.
I love being inspired by the ideas of others, I'm passionate about learning new ways to approach life, and I'm excited to experience the wonders this world has to offer.
In return for housing, I love making meals and desserts and I'm certainly willing to put my old farm hand skills to work with any animal caretaking chores you might need.
Update - I am now able to host! I very much look forward to opening my doors to new friends and sharing conversation and adventures.
PHILOSOPHY
You know that line "when life gives you lemons, make lemonade"? I guess I'm like that, I like making the lemonade (the real stuff as well as the metaphorical lemonade). I find happiness in the small things. I know that even if I miss every connecting train I wanted to make in my trip, if I have a good conversation with a random person in the station, I'll probably feel like the trip was a wild success and be thrilled about it. I think life is better if you go through it finding and appreciating the good moments.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've had amazing experiences unofficially surfing couches as a contra dancer traveling to dance weekends across the US, and then used CS officially in the summer of 2013 during a two month backpacking trip across Northern and Eastern Europe.

Música, películas y libros
I'm currently reading: Rebuilding the Foodshed - How to Create Local, Sustainable, and Secure Foodsystems by Phillip Ackerman-Leist. What a book! Deep, engrossing, academic for sure, yet also full of puns and stories. Wonderful.
My favorite authors as a youngster were Tamora Pierce (She created the best heroines a girl could ever hope to live up to!) and James Harriet.
I very much enjoy music and movies and I'll give nearly everything a good try. I have special soft spots for pop music from the 70s, foreign films, romantic comedies, and bio-pics. ...if a Motown hit comes on the radio when I'm in the car, you can bet on me singing along.
Algo increíble que he hecho
I visited the shores of Lake Superior in the Upper Peninsula one summer and hiked a trail that led me to an overlook above the water that was so stunning, I don't know how to capture the beauty in words.
The power of the waves had carved shapes in the rock.
The water was clear down to the depths.
The sky, blue, with billowing clouds.
It was peaceful yet awe-inspiring.
A truly special moment.
