Overview
About Me
We both graduated from the University of Calgary with engineering degrees in 2012. We spent a year in Switzerland together during our degree, working as interns during the experience of a lifetime. It was so good, that we wanted to come back.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Baden, Calgary, Effretikon; We never live in Couchsurfing hotspots, but we are very excited to host people. Now in Effretikon, we are a 16min train to Zurich HB and 6min to Winterthur and have lots of room. We want to meet our guests though and not just wash linens, so if you are just seeking a soft surface for an overnight layover at the airport and have zero references (as are 75% of our requests), we won't go out of our way to accommodate.
When we first heard of couch surfing, we thought it involved crashing at friends/families houses if you happened to have some in the area and we thought... "wouldn't it be nice if you didn't have to already know somebody there?" And VOILA!
We've surfed all over europe and have found that its not only a place to find lodging but a great way to meet locals. Half the fun is finding events happening so you get to meet way more than just one person. My favorite time with CSers was a lakeside bonfire in Oslo. One of the most beautiful lakes I've seen (means a lot coming from a rocky mountainer) and the perfect temperature for spontaneous swimming. Good times, sharing cognac and even got a place to sleep in the next night.
Interests
We are quite avid geocachers. At one point we found ourselves doing it 400+ days in a row until -40C temps in Calgary put an end to that. We love boardgames (Catan, ticket to ride, carcassone and the like) and frisbee, ultimate frisbee and disc golf.
