About Me

CURRENT MISSION

ABOUT ME

Wanna-be vegabond / global traveller - relegated to North America (for now). Passionate about sustainability and societal engineering; published editor (thanks, Ed !); Paton and occasional Sponsor of the Arts - most genres of Multi-Media and Mixed-Media Arts, Music (support live / local !), Visual and Literary Works; good sense of humor; honest; high level of integrity; wear my heart on sleeve; quick with words and actions; million-mile-a-minute (aka "non-stop") mind; into many sports / sporting activities; do not tolerate fools or disingenuous actions well.

PHILOSOPHY

Be kind; Be impeccable with your word, Don't take anything personally, Don't make assumptions, Always do your best - I believe that if one follows this path, they will be justly rewarded - even if not seeking rewards; Kanji, 7-Generations, don't let the little things in life get you tripendicular !

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

(Currently) am just starting out. Will be hosting more now that "Sustainable House" is almost complete. Still a work in progress to modify 2 BR micro-house w/ postage-stamp lot into a near-zero impact (not quite) "PassiveHaus" / maybe Living Building Challenge. Located within a mile of Hershey, walkability index of 69, 1/2 block off COLT (serving Lebanon County & Harrisburg) and ~2 miles to CAT (serving Dauphin County, Hershey, Harrisburg, Carlisle, Middletown) bus lines, near Amtrak services in Harrisburg, the AT & Middletown.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Only hosted once, never couched ;-) - been to quite a few Hostels, back-country (and "middle-of-nowhere") camping; motor-home, car, truck, M/C & RV camping; sleeper trains, cabins, cottages; as well as staying at everything from absolute hole-in-the-wall dives to 5-star+ "accommodations".

Interests

Ensuring our children / progeny will have a healthy, habitable planet and a sustainable standard of living within our / my lifetime; travelling; meeting new and old friends & kindred spirits; year-round outdoor tennis (almost made it 3 years straight ;>); "commuter" bicycling; motorcycling; darts (English Steel Tip & Widdy); pool / billiards; bocce; building science and architecture; live music; foodie & enjoy "creative" cooking & foods; local / organics; local (where ever that may be) micro-brews and beers (especially Hefeweizens, Milk Stouts, "real" Lagers & Bocks); occasional wines & bourbons; a good smoke now and then; hiking / back-country camping; fishing - sometimes hunting; kayaking / canoeing; engineering and sciences; good fiction & non-fiction; new experiences; movies (on DVD); guitar (I wish); skiing; baseball / softball; Steelers, Pens, Pirates & Penn State (WE ARE..); long moonlit walks on the beach (yeah, right - just a bit o' b.s. - checking to see if you're still paying attention !); nature / wildlife / nightlife; socializing; mentally stimulating & challenging pastimes; coaching youth sports; public speaking - pretty much any- and every-thing to keep myself, my friends / acquaintances and family amused....and of course being a good Christian ;-)

Earth Stewardship - aka Sustainability 101 - A Guide for Living on Planet Earth.

Sustainability: Living off the interest of our planet, not consuming the principal.

7 Generations Philosophy for Sustainability: In our every deliberation, we must consider the impacts of our decisions, not just upon ourselves, but on our fathers, our fathers' fathers, our great-fathers' fathers, our children, our children's children, and our great-children's children (my interpretation of the Iriquois creed).

Living Building Challenge, principles of LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design).
