About Me

I am a teacher from Hawaii and also run an online education business helping history teachers make magic in their classrooms.

I live on five acres, totally off grid, on the Big Island of Hawai’i. We are on solar, catch our own water, and have sheep and goats too. We have a little orange orchard, macadamia nut trees, avocado trees, bananas, and coffee though I don’t really harvest, dry, and roast it.

My wife and I love animals. We rescue strayed and abused dogs and cats and occasionally other critters that cross out path. So, while we have three dogs and fifteen or so cats of our own we could have several other dogs looking for homes and some cats too decorate our home and property. (Some people do not treat dogs well in Hawai’i and there are many feral cats). So, our small home is often stuff full of dogs and cats, so if you have allergies it might be tough although we have no carpet and try to keep it as clean as possible. But if you’re not an animal person, not a good idea to stay with us. We also have like fifteenish chickens roaming the yard. Fun stuff.

Interests

Dogs, surfing, watching movies with my wife, reading, basketball, drinking beer and wine, exploring cities and new places, (unfortunately at the moment) following the news, running.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Studied at Oxford (for a week haha). Can I still call myself an Oxford chap?

What I Can Share with Hosts

I’m a teacher of US and world history so I can share cool and interesting stories. Traveling across the United States and seeing a wide variety of schools and teachers, I can also share insights into he American education system.
