About Me

Greetings!
I love to meet new people and make friends. I spend most of my time as a science teacher throughout the year, yet find the time to travel during breaks and during the summer. My son, 17, loves to travel also when he's free. We've had some amazing experiences together and hope to have many more. I'm also an avid drummer and mountain hiker. It is my wish to have my home open to travelers and also befriend others while traveling.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to make connections with people in other cultures instead of experiencing things as a typical tourist. Perhaps life-long friendships can be made and I can reciprocate and have travelers stay where I live in NY.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love musics from all around the world. As a drummer I'm always curious to listen to music that has rhythm, such as Samba, African musics, Latin and more. Generally I listen to reggae, jazz, and European classical. I also enjoy how music from around the world is hybridizing and creating new avenues of music .

Currently I'm reading One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. I do enjoy nonfiction as it relates to the environment and sustainability.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've volunteered in Haiti to support of sustainable development initiatives. I love this work and especially the people I connected with in Haiti.

Teach, Learn, Share

Sciences and sustainable development are my background. I'm more than happy to share this and explore this with my hosts. I've also a music background mostly in drumming that I love to share with others, playing with other musicians and drummers .

As a traveler, I'm curious to simply befriend people and learn about their culture, who they are personally, and simply have laughs together.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can assist in whatever work may be needed to support the success of my stay... housework, chores, heavy lifting. I can also share music and many many travel stories!
