About Me

I’m 28 years old on paper, but my soul is that of an old man. I have had many heartbreaks, and a couple of near-death experiences that have guided me along the path I’m on today, and for that I am thankful. I believe that it shouldn't cost money to live, and if everyone shared with another, this would be possible. I’ve come to realize I don’t support the corporate “American Dream” or the scripted lives most of us are conditioned to live.

My main goal in life is to become sustainable, with as little bills as possible, and to make use of all the space I occupy. I would be really interested in starting or joining an intentional community with like-minded individuals, building sustainable homes, farms, and becoming fully self-reliant. To gain more knowledge on these interests, I have several months of WWOOFing experience in the dry, drought ridden western states (good time to learn irrigation, and greenhouse construction). I love to travel, experience live music, be in nature, hike, help others, and continually better myself through experience and education. Not formal education though, that's a total rip-off. Why is there not a return policy for college degrees???

I am an avid disc golfer, and plan to use my PDGA membership to compete in tournaments all over the world. I would be happy to teach you how to play if you're interested! I am happiest when I am out in nature, when there is nowhere else I have to be, and nothing else I have to do. Disc golf helps guide me on my own personal pursuit of happiness.

Besides wanting to see all parts of the Earth we live on, I want to learn how other people live, what makes them happy, and be able to connect in person.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Life is too short to work it all away. I want to see the things I want to see, and live in awe of my surroundings. I love to travel and see the world through my own eyes. What I love even more is traveling, meeting people, and seeing how they see the world through their eyes. I believe the more perspectives I can see, the more sense this all will make.

UPDATE:

As of January 2017, I am currently on a break from prolonged traveling. I'm currently visiting family and friends in Minnesota. I'm not sure where I'm headed next.

Anything that causes a deep emotional connection. I really like movies based on true stories. The Shawshank Redemption, Into The Wild, Good Will Hunting, The Pursuit of Happyness, The Green Mile, Reign Over Me.

Books:

I love non-fiction, and spiritual "self-help" type books. Into The Wild by John Krakauer, Walden, or Life In The Woods by Henry David Thoreau, The Power of Intention by Dr. Wayne Dyer. The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle. Anything written by Thoreau, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Charles Bukowski, Charles Dickens, Ernest Hemingway, Thích Nhất Hạnh, Lao Tzu, C.S. Lewis, Walt Whitman.....

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Went back country camping deep in the Alaskan Denali. Had some close encounters with grizzlies, moose, caribou, wolves, and so many more animals. Truly something I recommend doing for at least a few full days. It helped me realize my love of camping and seemed to provide some sort of mental and spiritual cleanse.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can possibly teach you how to plant, grow, harvest, till, and compost. I have a wide range of experience with tools and machinery. I've worked in the auto industry for six years. Also, I would love to teach you how to disc golf, share stories, and learn from one another.
