About Me
Hi! I'm Daniel. I'm a post-college grad who found out somewhere along the way that settling down and using their degree wasn't what he wanted to do after college. Since then I've found ways to get to a few cool places and I love discovering new and fun ways to see more! We're in an exciting time where travel is cheap and connections are plenty. I love the thrill of adventure and the opportunities that present themselves when you get out and about. I also love meeting people, establishing connections, and hearing stories.
Growing up, travel was something we did once a year for a week or two and that was it. It was usually a huge expense and was seen as a luxury, something that you save up the whole year for, plan ahead, and when you go back, you return to your 'normal life'. My first major adventure was to Kenya over winter break of my Junior year of college, when I was 20 in 2014. It was a short, trip, but packed full none the less. We travelled around the country, visiting churches in some pretty remote areas. We saw The Great Rift Valley, went on a safari in the Masai Marra game reserve and I got clamored by countless kids who had never seen a white man before! That first experience was enough to spark my wanderlust and set me on this grand adventure around the globe. I'm thankful for the perspective and opportunities I've had while away at college and since graduating I worked as a boat instructor in Lake Powell, Utah, which blew me away, and I travelled to Israel and Ireland which were both incredible.
Now, in my post-college life, I am an aspiring blogger, photographer, and full time traveller. I have a blog you can check out if you want at www.midwestwanderer.net, and I hope to travel full time in my 20's. Let's connect and get to know each other!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love cheap travel, connecting with people and sharing different cultures. Wherever I go, and whatever I do, I try to educate myself on the place I am visiting, and in some small way give back to the community that's allowed me to stay with them. Travel is great, and it's even greater when you can share it with other people and add value to everyone you come in contact with. Travelling selfish is not the way to go. I'm laid back, open to do or go anywhere. Thanks in advance for your hospitality and opening your home to me. I am excited to stay with you!
