About Me
I love to travel and wish I had more money and time to do so--don't we all.
Right now I'm an English Literature undergrad with a minor in French, but I am currently taking time off from my studies. I plan to study French Literature--hopefully in France!--for my last year and continue on to my Masters in Information (Library Studies) to become a librarian 📚
I work in sexual health education and volunteer at Planned Parenthood. When I do have a moment to myself I love to go cycling, read, write, go to the movies, go for drinks, go dancing with friends and hang out with my cat son, Fred.
I consider myself pretty open-minded and adventurous!
I hope to one day travel the whole world, especially South Asia, the Caribbean and the Nordic countries. I want to one day teach English abroad somewhere in Asia and learn to surf and scuba dive in Australia.
The rule I live by is that I will try anything once!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Student budget!
***I have only had one couchsurfing experience despite having a profile for a long time. Normally I stay in hostels when I travel, however I haven't been able to travel since about 4 years ago, before I started university and became professionally broke. Since I am now on a year off I am hoping to travel a bit and try couchsurfing for real!

Music, Movies, and Books
Film-wise, I love anything artsy, surreal, horror or foreign, but I also have a sweet spot for corny 90s "chick-flicks."
I LOVE David Lynch, Kubrick, Lanthimos and Tarantino
Favourite films include Pulp Fiction, Blue Velvet, Clueless, Dogtooth, Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels, The Trotsky, The Royal Tenenbaums, Eyes Wide Shut.
My biggest passion in life is literature! I love both fiction and non-fiction. For non-fiction I enjoy books on politics, sexuality, film theory and queer/feminist theory. Fiction-wise, I read almost exclusively contemporary and classic literature. I love Audrey Lourde, Sarah Schulman, Calvino, Bulgakov, female poets of the Harlem Renaissance, and waaaay too many others to list...I could talk about books for hours at a time. I can't wait to be a librarian and spend my life professionally loving books!!
I love listening to classic rock, Motown, psychedelic rock, R&B, hip hop, rap and country music. I love dancing to R&B, hip hop, dancehall, Afrobeat, soca, reggaeton, etc. 🌴 My record player is where a good chunk of my money goes as I love to collect old Soul records and rare country albums. Going dancing is one of my FAVOURITE things to do, being a Caribbean girl means it's in my blood. I love seeing live music, in my teens I was obsessed with heavy metal bands (Judas Priest was my first ever concert!) and went to Toronto with friends for shows a few times a month, getting in the mosh pit was my version of a religious experience. These days I love to go with my girls to hip-hop and R&B club nights, or with my only friend who also loves country music to bluesgrass nights and country shows.
Favourite metal band might have to go to Cannibal Corpse (I saw them live with my ex-boyfriend in Toronto instead of going to prom!) or maybe Gojira. Favourite R&B artist is probably SZA, favourite rappers: Lil Kim, Kendrick, Wu-Tang, Busta; favourite dancehall is obviously Koffee--she's my rising star. Favourite country artists are Jon Pardi, Ashley Monroe, Dixie Chicks (duh).
Honorable mentions: early Sabbath, Blur, the Stone Roses, Kenny Chesney, Alan Jackson, Nicki Minaj. The last band I saw live was Sloan, a Canadian indie-rock legend that I LOVE and who are INCREDIBLE live! My favourite song by them is Underwhelmed.
My mother is Trini so I love Caribbean food, culture and music. My father is English and I grew up just outside of London, England, so I have a love for travelling, a tiny bit of an accent left, and a European anti-materialist attitude.
