About Me

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night. - Dylan Thomas.

Hey there! (Sorry I started heavy)

I believe we have one life, fill it with memories and make it a life that was worth living.
We live is such a big world that we can not see everything, but I want to see as much as I can, while I can.

I dream about travelling, if you know that then you mostly know me.

I am also very interested in what "makes people and the world tick". Be it psychology, sociology, geopolitics, history or permaculture I am happy to sit over a coffee and share ideas :)

"Adventure experiences" completed:

Long-Distance hike the Welsh coastal path *Tick*
Drive across India in a rickshaw (Tuk Tuk) *Tick* (twice!)
Long-Distance trek in Nepal *Tick*
Diving certification *Tick*
Hike Sri-Lanka's highest peak *Tick*

Currently living in Shanghai and dreaming of...
"Planned adventure experiences"

Small Treks: China's sacred mountains - Huangshan, Hengshan, Huashan and Taishan.
Long-Distance cycle ride: Shanghai to Huangshan
Long-Distance Trek: Hong Kong's trails

South Korea:
Long-Distance trek: Jeju Olle trails
Long-Distance trek: Baekdu Daehgan

And wistfully looking at Japan and hiking trails they have,

Future-Future plan:
Saving money with my wife to buy a sailboat and take a couple years off, cruising around the Pacific Ocean.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Looking for people to share experiences :)
Everything I have done has in the end involved other people and has worked out well for those reasons. I am confident to do these alone but it is better to find like minded individuals and create friendships that last beyond the moment.

Interests

I like to think I am a damn good cook, like an amateur enthusiast I pretty much almost always make tasty food but occasionally have an upset.

I also try to document my travels through photography and once again, amateur enthusiast who takes good photos, sometimes brilliant, sometimes meh.

My Favourite vaules?

"It is not the destination"
"Most of life is a storm in a teacup"
"You never know till you try"

“I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”

― Frank Herbert, Dune

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

All of my experiences, but for a guy who is moderately afraid of heights, riding in a hot air balloon actually rates pretty darn high on any list.

Why? Ascending through clouds in an open basket, reaching out your hands and watching the mist flow through your fingers is honestly mind blowing.

10/10: Like to think I would do it again.
