About Me
Funny and contemplative. We might have a lot of fun if you will. Love the nature up to tears.
I am from Vladivostok, a town on the Pacific Coast of Russia, not from Ireland. Why I have something different indicated as a place of origin: I've been on CS since 2007, happy to be a CS pioneer here but had to create this new profile, because CS blocked my profile, due to the current political situation. I guess it was blocked after I had paid for my CS annual membership with my Russian Visa card. VPN wasn't much help. Ireland is indicated my profile just as a wonderful place that I would like to visit, I don't live there.
Here's my old tried and true profile which I can't use now: https://couchsurfing.page.link/V9haJUimesdc5mqh9
The city and the nature around:
- Ask me about a few nice spots on the seashore with sources of fresh water (to cook and drink), to go camping for a few days. (Shkota peninsula from Russkii island by car and on foot/Reineke island by ferry and on foot/Telyakovskogo bay with a fresh water stream for cooking - by car or bus + on foot)
- Go to Tobizina Cape. You can see a fox there. (On Russian island) Stroll by the seaside back to Ahlyostysheva bay by the sea coast, if you will.
- Go to Eagle's nest hill in the city center.
- Take a sailing lesson from "VladMore". 2500 rubles for 1 evening lesson.
- Get a sea kayak (~1300 rubles per day) - go paddling on Russkii island (take food and much water and a tent and a sleeping bag. Spend a night on an island. Pay for 2 days for the kayak:) A baseball cap and extra clothes & extra shoes, cause you will make some clothes wet. Don't wear laces on shoes, they can get caught on the pedals inside the kayak, this can be dangerous in case you turn over). +79147344731 WhatsApp, Denis, for renting a sea kayak in Novik Bay.
- Get a bicycle from https://samsebevelo.ru/#contact
- Arseniev's musem: https://arseniev.org/museum-events/
Coffee: Kafema & Pena Dney coffeeshops have some tasty coffee.
You can get around the city by public paid scooters. Need to download the app and pay.
Bars: Bootlegger is small, good, safe and friendly. Bigger bars and clubs: Cat and Clover, Ozzy bar, Rocks, Brugge pub. Atelier with nice interior but no prices indicated in the menu for the alcohol.
Food:
"Ne Ryday" is a good cheap canteen/eatery.
There is a food street at the seashore: below Ocean Cinema, near "Kosatka Sauna" place, at the seashore, stretching to the south from "Kosatka sauna". There are places like open-air cafes and fast-food kiosks. "Supra" with live line (~30 minutes waiting) with tasty Georgian food. "Ух ты блин" ("Uh ti blin"- is for pancakes with different stuffing. "Zuma" - expensive and delicious seafood restaurant.
Beware of ticks from late April till late June if you go to the nature! This applies to some parts of China, Korea, Japan, Europe. Tuck the ends of your jeans into your socks. And your T-shirt into your jeans. These insects can transmit some nasty stuff. Google them, check out the info yourself. Buy some anti-ticks spray in a drugstore/pharmacy. Spray your boots and up, up your clothes. They start from the grass and crawl up the clothes, so tuck your clothes into your lower clothes. And check your feet and legs every 5 or 15 minutes if you walk in the grass/forest by a path (if it is not a road) or without a path. A couple weeks ago I took 5 ticks off me and my friend. And over 20 ticks off 2 dogs 3 weeks ago.
If you need to buy something:
Farpost is a local online marketplace.
"Tibet" is good for outdoor & technical travel gear.
"Olymp", too.
Trial & Olymp are for bicycle stuff.
There is a Chinese Market in town.
Buy a souvenir toy seagull from Laura Koles designer 89084460625.
Get some souvenirs from CreativeSpot designer markets.
