About Me

ABOUT ME

I like reading and writing and am grateful that someone actually pays me to do that :) Living in the US as a foreigner makes you reassess your attitudes and values constantly, providing a great exercise in empathy and humility.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I would like to return the hospitality I and my girlfriend have received during our travels throughout the US by finally having an opportunity to provide the couch myself.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We have had only the best experience with Couchsurfing so far. We have met kind and entertaining people who helped me experience the other countries in a different way.

Interests

Travelling (obviously:), cooking and experiencing different cuisines, reading (scholarly literature, novels - classics, sci-fi, horrors), movies (see below), PC games (not that much anymore tho).

Music, Movies, and Books

Some of my favorite movies: Blade Runner, A Scanner Darkly, The Wall, Brazil, Fishing with John, Holy Mountain, Terminator, Aliens, Man on the Moon,

I like mostly classic rock music (e.g. Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, The Beatles, Black Sabbath), but I listen to other genres. I really enjoy the three latest albums by Kanye West; I also like electronic music (e.g. Daft Punk, Fol Chen, La Roux, Depeche Mode), psychedelic rock (MGMT, The Flaming Lips), instrumental (Vangelis, Bedrich Smetana), some New Wave stuff (Depeche Mode, Joy Division), The xx etc.

I read basically everything that's good - canon literature, textbooks, articles, magazines, you name it. Lately, I have enjoyed reading Stephen King's It, Jean Twenge's Generation Me & Narcissistic Epidemic, George R.R. Martin's Songs of Ice and Fire, Thomas Pynchon's Gravity Rainbow, John Steinbeck's of Mice and Men, Dharmaid MacCullouch's Christianity: First Two Thousand Years.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sitting at Zabriskie Point at pitch-dark night. Divine tranquility (Nevada, 2008).
