About Me

Hi everyone! I'm 23 year old guy born and raised in one of the best cities in the world: BARCELONA!

I am passionate about Basketball and all kinds of sports in general. I've been playing since I was 5 and also I have been a coach since I was 15. Some other hobbies are cars, music, beer and I really appreciate going out for have lunch or dinner (I love eating really nice food and trying different recipes and typical dishes from other cultures or countries).

I've studied Geography and land management at Barcelona Autonomous University and got my Bachelor a couple of summers ago. Currently I'm working at the biggest Decathlon warehouse in the south of Europe and it's located in Barcelona's industrial harbour district.

I had the chance of doing a semester exchange in Denmark (Roskilde) and it changed my life completely: I've met people from hundreds of countries and made really good friends from around the world. Also I developed a real passion for travelling and meeting new cultures and thanks to that exchange I met my girlfriend (she's Australian). So yes, I've been to Australia, China, Caribbean sea and a lot of countries in Europe but still wanna keep going and adding new places to my 'places to visit' list. Also, as a geographer discovering new landscapes and meaningful places is one of the best feelings that you can have.

I have some really good stories about some of my travels and also when you develop 'wanderlust' I've noticed it turns you also easygoing person . I don't need too much to be happy and everyone should be a bit more like this.

I speak Catalan and Spanish, I am really fluent with English and also I can get by with French and understand pretty much everything.

Cheers to all,

David

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing because I really needed a place to stay during my first 2 weeks of my semester exchange in Denmark. The Uni gave me a room 17 days after my arrival in Denmark so I had to 'survive' during the cold Danish winter . Surprisingly, I met really nice people and found kind hosts for that period of time and it made me think that there is really good people around that take care of others and that feeling is priceless.

So that's why I am still here after almost three years from that period of time. I really wanna be here to meet interesting people and not only for offer a place to crash for free during someone's holidays... I think that's not the main purpose of CS (you can get an AirBnB if you want to do that).

***Update status: Because of my girlfriend and I work schedules during this summer it will be a bit complicated to offer a proper full CS experience of Barcelona city so hope you can understand.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love my city and most of the people that comes to visit it don't get the full experience of what happens here. Barcelona became really international and we have so many tourists lately. I understand, it's cheap, beautiful and we have schedules completely different from the rest of Europe and the world. Also alcohol is cheap and we know how to party. But everyone should know that Barcelona is not only the Sagrada Familia, FCBarcelona and Gaudi... there is a culture behind all of this and this culture has nothing to do with the flamenco, toros, paella or sangría (yes, that Ed Sheeran song is a bit bullshit).

Sorry about that people, but I can show you how Catalan and Spanish languages differ for example, also I can take you to some beautiful places where most of the tourists don't know about. I can take you to best ''tapas'' places without paying a fortune, I can cook real 'Tortilla'... And yes, people from Barcelona we don't go to Barceloneta beach for a swim! We go to the northern beaches or the southern ones because there's less pollution, less tourists and the water is clean.
