My wife and I teach at Montcalm Community College in west Michigan. She teaches Microbiology full time and I teach Political Science and History part time.
I also own and operate a small custom cabinetry shop.

This summer we have discovered the joy of bicycle riding. So far we have worked our way up to 300 miles a month and hope to finish the year with a total of 1200 miles with 600+ completed as of this posting.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Last year, we sold our hobby farm and built our dream house in Greenville MI. This includes an efficiency apartment over the garage that we would love to share with others who want to discover Michigan. We are exploring the idea of bicycle touring in the U.S. , Canada and Europe.

Music, Movies, and Books

My wife likes older country music easy listening, light rock and piano while I am much more eclectic, enjoying pretty much all genres.
We are both avid readers, concentrating mostly on fiction in many genres.
Our favorite movies are usually romantic comedies, feel good movies and adventures. Movies include Notting Hill, Love Actually, Second Hand Lions, Paul (ok, that is one of mine, not hers I like pretty much anything with Simon Pegg).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Raised our daughter. People do not always realize how amazing it is to have, care for and nurture their children. We have been so lucky to have had the experience.

Spent a summer touring Europe (my base was in Gottingen Germany)

My wife and I built our own house; it was a year of very hard work but it is complete and we are loving it.

(Ok, I know that it was supposed to be one Amazing Thing I've Done but there are so many!)

We both have so much that we would like to share, including a spare apartment. But it comes at a cost, we want to learn about you (not so expensive huh?)
