Resumen
Sobre mí
These days I'm a relatively boring person. I enjoy walking around the local area and finding some new and unique food / drinks.
I tend to end up at the bar quite often as it gives me something to do and is almost always more fun than laying around the house, but that gets expensive.
I'm in the process of finding some new hobbies or possibly areas of work, I just haven't figured it out yet. I say I'm retired-ish because I get a small pension that allows me to relax a bit in places with lower costs of living. However, I will almost certainly want to work in the future so I can afford to go see the world.
For the time being (and the last 5 years or so), I'm just bumming around S.E. Asia trying to figure out what I want to do with my life.
Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing
Couchsurfing seems to be a good way to meet people other than those who just enjoy drinking all the time (not that I'm opposed to it, but I need to expand my life a bit).
Intereses
I am definitely a bit of a space nerd. Anything related to Astronomy, space travel, exploration, or really anything outside of Earth is absolutely fascinating to me. The universe is such a wonderful and mysterious place.
Exploring a new city is also at the top of my list. Just seeing things that I haven't before makes me happy.
Was big into poker for a while and still enjoy the game, but I feel this hobby is fading (always up for a small local game, though).

Música, películas y libros
Music is something I enjoy from every genre. It's not hard for me to find something likeable in any type of music. My preference tends to lean more towards rock music, though.
Movies...SciFi is always good. Interstellar was pretty great.
As far as books go, I don't read nearly enough these days. I enjoyed Michael Crichton ( I loved Timeline). Some classics as well, such as Walden are good.
Algo increíble que he hecho
Let's go with one amazing experience. I was in the 4000 islands area in Laos. I was spending a few weeks just chilling in a hammock, smoking a bit, and taking the occasional swim. One night, the manager of the place asked if I wanted to go to a get together. I had no idea what it entailed, but I was all for it.
Once the place started closing down and things were getting quiet for the night, the manager busted out the rice wine for a few shots while we waited. Shortly after, a random guy comes up the river bank, which was apparently our cue to follow him.
We got down to the river and got into this old rickety wooden boat that was clearly not all together. Regardless, we took it down the Mekong while simultaneously bailing out the water so we didn't sink.
Eventually, we landed at another island that appeared to be some sort of farming island. I could hear some noise and excitement in the distance.
We climbed up the river bank and across a bunch of fields trying to avoid cow dung all over and eventually made it to this get together.
The guy I was with immediately grabbed some beers for us, and started showing me around. There was underground gambling, dancing, delicious food, and just an all around party. It was apparently some Thai/Laos border party or something.
We danced and drank and ate all night before finally making our way back to tourist island around sunrise.
It was an interesting a fun experience to say the least.
Enseña, aprende, comparte
The entire concept of teach, learn, share is a fantastic one. I often struggle with what I can offer others in the way of teaching. I suppose I could always teach some basics of web development if that's of interest. I'm more than happy to share an in depth conversation about space, physics, poker, or traveling, though.
As far as learning, I'm always open to learning about new places and cultures. I would also really love to learn about some new hobbies or interests that other people have. I might just end up enjoying it as well.
Qué puedo ofrecer a los anfitriones
I'm happy to share some drinks or a meal or a random spontaneous trip to a new place with no thought as to what adventure we may encounter. I mean, who doesn't love heading to a new city or location five minutes after thinking up the possibility?
