CURRENT MISSION

Mmm..I guess big picture is to fully enjoy life in the moment, to fully experience the love of God and to give it away. More immediately, excitedly planning my first trip to the US in Nov.

ABOUT ME

Mid-40's, but my mind keeps telling me I'm still mid-20's. Does that ever go away? Quite a relaxed kinda guy who finds great satisfaction in the simple things of life. Loves God, people, nature, being outdoors, the coast, the pub, good food, various sports, the pub (did i say that already?), art & photography (although yet to fully release my creative self). I Have an amazing wife called Miriam and two fabulous daughters called Beth & Lucy. Currently leading a church in Calne, but my previous careers were dispensing optics and training consultancy.

PHILOSOPHY

Being a Christian and believing in God, my main reason for living is to discover the fullness of what it means to know God and experience his presence with me. To be full of his nature and goodness and for that to impact how I live life and how I engage with others. I'm enjoying that journey, but know I still have much to grow in. It affects every area of life and enables me to enjoy life to the full. To really understand what it means to live in and be filled with pure love for God, self and others. I think that's exciting, worth discovering and will change the world.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

New to CS. Have a house with lodgers anyway and often have visitors crashing on the sofa. A busy house most of the time. Open to the possibility of more guests :-). Looking at doing some couch surfing in the US in Nov

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None thus far under the official banner of CS, but have slept on many a sofa (including my own) and had many a visitor into my home over the years. Hospitality is good.
Did put up a stranger in my house once who I later discovered was on the run from the police. Nice fella though. He did write me a letter later to explain and apologise.

Interests

Interested in my wife & kids. Interested in the journey of knowing God more. Loves nature of any kind but am particularly keen on ornithology. Very interested in the great outdoors and have my breath taken away by amazing views. Love being at the coast - there's something about the sea... Like hiking holidays and camping. Love playing 5-a-side footie, but also badminton, squash, tennis, etc. Would like to be fitter (need to do something about that). Really do like hanging out with friends down the pub. Enjoys scary fair rides. Travelling. Spent a week on my own exploring the Orkney Islands earlier this year - that was very cool. Don't think I'd want to live in a city, but enjoy the buzz of a visit.

Music, Movies, and Books

Not very good at remembering the names of films I enjoy but like action/adventure/thriller/spy/detective/deepandmeaningful/period/historical type films. Film most watched: Gladiator
Music: I appreciate I very wide range of music styles. Much of what I listen to is worship music. Particularly enjoying Jesus Culture at the moment. Not really up on current bands, but enjoy soul/hiphop/street. Back in my younger days was really into Michael Jackson, Duran Duran, Genesis, Sade to name a few.
Books: Read the Bible lots, and related spiritual books. Read the occasional novel - genre would be similar to film preferences. Enjoy factual books on nature and world cultures etc.
