Overview
About Me
Hi! I'm 45, from Ireland but living in New Zealand for the past 16 years, hoping to travel to Canada, Thailand and Cuba in the not too distant future.
I'm (reasonably) intelligent, ambitious and inquisitive with a good sense of humour (i think so at least!). Currently self employed doing shower glass restoration and gutter cleaning (don't ask the connection!) and my sideline in second-hand book dealing.
I strongly believe in the power of positive thinking - don't think it makes me a hippy but if it does I don't care! Am also a believer in protecting the environment for future generations - not a tree-hugger type of way though - and I don't particularly want to have anything to do with creating any future generations either - I'll leave that to those good souls who consider parenting a privilege!
PHILOSOPHY
Public transport is the way to go - too many cars on the roads is destroying communities. Want to live in a place where a combination of foot, bicycle and public transport can get you anywhere with the minimum of fuss.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We have hosted some CouchSurfers from around the world and are always keen on making them feel at home here.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
We have hosted 5 Couchsurfers and all have been very positive experiences!
Interests
Likes include Dilbert - the comic strip (anyone who works in an office needs to read at least one of these books!), to-do lists (an obsession with me, my life would be a mess without them), spicy food (chinese, indian, thai - basically anything that has chilli as an ingredient), coming up with new business ideas (to add to the thousands i already have, which may someday add to my impressive tally of failed ventures, at least i tried!), Hoegaarden (the funny looking Belgian beer in the hexagonal glasses), planning for a trip to Canada (i can't be more specific but this country fascinates me), blueberries (have even considered becoming a fruit picker just so i can eat loads of them while working, shouldn't really admit these things), the Business & Money section of the newspaper, Podge and Rodge (a pair of gruesome puppets from Ireland) - fantastic!, dark chocolate (i.e. the real thing, although not so keen on the 70% plus cocoa content chocolate), e-mails from friends and acquaintances longer than one line (and without too many spelling mistakes!), tidy surroundings (did I not mention my Obsessive Compulsive Disorder?) and Smirnoff vodka (especially the berry flavour one - see above).

Music, Movies, and Books
Did somebody mention books?! I devour self-help, travel and business books. A fan of different ways of thinking, such as the 4-Hour Work Week by Tim Ferris. Not a huge movie fan - although I do like the more quirky, non-blockbuster type of movie.
Teach, Learn, Share
Always happy to share my ideas and theories with anyone willing to listen - whether it be ways to improve your personal finances, help with potential business ideas, evil companies to boycott! ;)
