About Me

Sustainability is my passion and I believe in small scale projects starting from where the heart is: at home. I have great confidence in the power of the public - especially within communities - and know that the change the world needs to see lies with them (us!).

Integrating nature into our lives is vital in my opinion, and I am passionate about working with plants and in nature, but even more so, teaching others how to build this connection too. I understand the value in every individual and the contribution they can make. It is vital for me to really put all of my energy and drive into what I feel matters most; Protecting our diverse Earth and its ecosystems with all people, animals, but perhaps most importantly, plants.

Herbal medicine, naturopathy, aromatherapy and other alternative therapies have developed into not only a keen interest of mine, but my way of life. I'm also very active and like swimming, running, biking, windsurfing, paddleboarding, pilates... Spiritual practices are a major part of my daily life too; I practice yoga, meditation, grounding, mindfulness. I'm a passionate person yet very much 'down to earth'. I like getting my hands dirty :)

I get my priorities right and when given a task will complete it to the best of my ability. I'm very conscientious and persevering. I have good organisational skills, a mature and confident attitude, love responsibility... But! On my other side I like to mess about, have fun and laugh, hang out with friends, go on adventures and face up to crazy challenges!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have recently completed a Foundation Degree in Horticulture at the Eden Project, UK and am now looking to have a free lifestyle full of movement and experience, whilst doing things where I can really make a difference. I am interested in building upon new ideas and imagine being part of the creation of a valuable project, with a sustainable, nurturing ethos, that can in future be spread far and wide to more and more people.

I am taking a year or two out before I continue to top up my degree to a BSc Plant Science, and then hopefully a MSc in Ethnobotany at some point too. I decided to take this time out to check in with myself and the world; I didn't want to get caught up on a career path as although this is important to me, I have some things to do right now to take care of myself physically, psychologically and spiritually. I hope to connect to individuals and communities through couchsurfing, and experience the warmth of the world.

Music, Movies, and Books

Soul, Jazz, and Folk music are my favourite genres, but i'm up for anything! I am musical - Cello playing at grade 8, including orchestral performances, jazz, folk, blues. I'm looking to connect with other musicians to play with others, broaden my skills, teach others, and have a good time. I also play a little guitar and piano.

I like to watch nature documentaries and historical movies. Action and romance are good too.. But horror is my favourite.
Books based on truth are what I read! Or crazy modern versions of historical books such as 'Pride and Prejudice and Zombies'. My favourite reads from the perspective of animals or nature; being taken away on the wing of a crow for example, is magical...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Travel through Yukon Territory, Canada, using workaway :)
...Including laying in the road at night watching the Aurora Borealis, and camping in a pickup truck on a mountain top (freezing!)

Teach, Learn, Share

I would love to share my knowledge of plants and teach cello. Mindfulness/meditation/wellbeing/nutrition/sustainability are things I research/practice a lot and would like to share too.

I'm forever learning so i'm sure I can also learn some wonderful things too, from others more knowledgable than myself! -Thank-you

What I Can Share with Hosts

I would like to share knowledge, recipes (including smoothies!), music, walks, and stories of our lives, anything really! I am knowledgable about some philosophy, ancient civilisations, nutrition and wellness, psychology, natural living, permaculture...

I am an open person, who is very adaptable to my situation so will go with the flow of others around.
