About Me
About me - Although I work as a M&E appraiser, my background is in environmental studies. My wife and I love to travel to out-of-the-way places in search of rocks, vistas, wildlife, good food and meeting new people. I grew up on a farm in central MN where we had lots of animals. One of my favorite things about life is meeting new people and hearing their stories.
About my wife - Brooke is the artistic one. She has a love of fabrics and creating fabric art. Shares my love for travels to non-touristy spots. She has also traveled more - Africa (Tanzania and Kenya), as well as studying in England and the Czech Republic.
In case you are allergic to pets, we do have a cat and dog.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
A friend that lives in Portland (OR) told us about it - what a great idea! We're looking forward to meeting new people both on our next vacation, and when someone stays with us.
Interests
I'm an avid photographer, mostly landscape/nature. I also love to cook, read, and garden. Also enjoy woodworking, and getting outside to bike, hike, and paddle. The BWCA is my happy place.

Music, Movies, and Books
When we're not out somewhere with our busy schedules, we're usually home catching up on Dr Who and Star Trek or playing board games. Brooke is a sucker for english period programs (Downton Abbey, etc.)
I like reading Issac Asimov, Dan Simmons, and William Kent Krueger.
Brooke's latest goal is to read all the Newbery award winning books.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
While working in Alaska, Brooke and I went kayaking and were greeted with a humpback whale doing a full breach 100yds from us!
