Hi,

My name is Dirk-Jan. I love travelling, I love music and most of all I really love to make my music adventures even more special by spending them in the company of the beautiful people on this platform. When I am travelling, it's mostly because of some music concert where I am involved as a musician or sound technician or I may be on a holiday trip with my lovely wife Rianne. Since I recently moved to a bigger city I am very glad that I can offer my couch in return.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to travel and to meet and host people from other countries/cultures. I love to have a good conversation on any deep or shallow topic and share thoughts and ideas and become more broadly acquinted with the beautiful different things that people care for and want to share. I experience travelling as the most mind-opening thing I look forward to meet a lot more people from different cultures than I have done so far.

Music, Movies, and Books

There's a lot of music that I love. I grew up with the music of U2, which I still love. I like Radiohead, Sufjan Stevens, Jack White, King Gizzard and a bunch of others. I like all sorts of music that use different influences and put them well together. I am also into classical music a lot since my wife is a profesional classical musician.

I like to watch movies that take me to another place, another time, movies that take me out of here and now. I like to drown in a good story.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2017 I was on a very adventurous holiday with Rianne. We went on our bikes to England and cycled and camped for 3 weeks. We travelled through beautiful towns cities and the lovely countryside of Norfolk and Suffolk. We pitched our tent at local farms, and maybe the most amazing thing was to eat meals from home-grown products at these farms!
