About Me

About me, travel plans, hosting, and more about me haha:

Hey! I’m Jackie and I’m 28 years old. I work at Starbucks as a barista. I’ve lived in Southern California a majority of my life, and would be more than happy to show any fellow travelers around town. I will definitely say I am more inclined towards the night scene, mostly because it’s usually when I am the most awake. But I am always down for a daytime adventure, especially when it’s someone’s first time in Orange County/Los Angeles :D Plenty to see and do between the two counties.

Last year, my boyfriend and I got to travel to so many other countries, and this coming year, we would like to focus on traveling within the United States. There are so many places we have mentioned wanting to go, but have never set the time aside to just go. So hopefully we get to see more of the US and also get to meet great people :). We both definitely love attending music festivals and have been to more than we can. count. The music is amazing and the people even more so <3.
In a couple months, I will be moving back to Vegas (I lived there 3 years before moving back to California), and would be more than happy to host once my boyfriend and I get settled in. Las Vegas would definitely be my favorite place to host, since it has THE most variety in quality food and entertainment.

I will say that I can be quite indecisive person when it comes down to deciding what to do…I really care more about other people’s input and I am honestly more than down for just about anything. I also find that I listen more than I talk, unless of course there is beer involved :). I just absolutely love hearing people talk about their own adventures and the things that have completely changed their world (as corny as that sounds lol). Philosophy and differing perspectives have always been my biggest passions in life.

As for Andrew (my boyfriend), he is 30, works for BMW and used to ride dirt bikes the majority of his life. So he is much more savvy in all the things I am not (cars, computers, technical things, anything engineering, sense of direction haha). He definitely loves to talk more. And he is one of the nicest and most considerate people ever. Honestly the only time’s he ever comes to close to maybe being moody is when he starts getting really hungry, otherwise this guy can honestly go without sleep two days and still be okay as long as there’s food nearby haha.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I guess I have answered this one in the about me already :)

Interests

Philosophy is by far my biggest passion (philosophy on anything) and perhaps the reason I can be quite indecisive and a general over-thinker (to a fault). Photography has been a close second passion. I've always been inspired by the photographs published in TIME and National Geographic. I'm always left dumb-struck not just by the exquisite detail, color, and focus of a shot, but how someone was able to capture that absolutely perfect moment in time. Would love to one day recreate something as cool. I really enjoy attending festivals, concerts, and smaller shows. I prefer smaller shows, because I do hate when two artists I play at the exact same time, causing me to miss part if not all of their performance. Other interests are history (about pretty much any subject), art (Rothko and Pollock are my two favorites), and art history.

Music, Movies, and Books

Although I mostly attend EDM events, Brand New is my all-time favorite band. My favorite movie is still Fight Club. Edward Norton is my #1 favorite male actor and Brad Pitt is a very close second. I can also quote Fight Club pretty much daily, as it's still completely relevant to today's culture. My favorite book is 100 Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. That book is honestly a work of art.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Attended the very first day of Oktoberfest in Munich Germany in 2016. We were in the Schottenheimmel tent, where my friends and I (along with what looked like two thousand other people) eagerly awaited the Mayor of the city to hit the very first tap of the very first keg at 12 exactly, officially kicking off Oktoberfest in Munich. Such an unforgettable experience! I can still vividly remember the widespread anticipation in the tent, followed by the colossal uproar of pure happiness and excitement from EVERYONE. 100/10 would go again!

Teach, Learn, Share

I would definitely say that I can whip up some delicious lattes machiattos! And if I have my french press and bomb filtered water, I can also whip up some super fresh and delicious coffee and also pair it with the right pastry.
