ABOUT ME

I'm a young professional with no kids and a backpack full of wanderlust. I'm a field inspector of oil and gas locations for the Department of Natural Resources in northwest Colorado. I get to spend my days exploring amazing country and getting paid to be curious. My goal for the next several years of my life is to work hard so I can play hard, and the playing will involve travelling. And skiing. The playing will also involve lots of skiing. I love to interact with and meet new people and am absolutely an extrovert. That being said, I also love my alone time and embrace comfortable silences. At times I have felt that I may be a poet masquerading as a scientist and on that note I am currently working on a book of poetry and short essays.

PHILOSOPHY

I've known myself completely in an instant, only to blink and realize I'm still not AWAKE. In a constant struggle to balance between action and reaction I try to live my life with intention and sincerity. I live for the moments when you fall in love with a stranger or make a friend for life. I love the in between moments, sunrise and sunset, glancing thoughts held warm in a quite moment.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am hoping to use this when I travel as a way to interact with local people. I am happy to host and share my knowledge of the area and the local geology!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I lived in Hawaii for the summer that I was 20. For most of the time I didn't have a permanent address. I spent half the summer sleeping on a friend's porch and the other half sleeping on an air mattress that I blew up every night in my friend's living room. I had never been happier.

Music, Movies, and Books

Top three favorite books: Sometimes a Great Notion, Point Counterpoint, Stranger in a Strange Land. Favorite authors: Ken Kesey, Aldous Huxley, Robert Heinlein, Kurt Vonnegut, Tom Robbins, Octavio Paz, Galway Kinnell! Herman Hesse, Leo Tolstoy, Pablo Neruda...it's a long list, what with being an obsessive reader and all.
Two recent excellent novels: Super Sad True Love Story and The Yellow Birds, read them, the beauty and excellence of the prose will knock your socks off.

Top three favorite artists: Conor Oberst (in all forms/bands), The Beatles, Tom Waits. Top albums: Real Gone (Tom Waits), I'm Wide Awake It's Morning (Bright Eyes), Fleet Foxes (self-title), In the Aeroplane Over the Sea (Neutral Milk Hotel). Currently can't stop listening to: Amanda Palmer and the Grand Theft Orchestra, Polica, Silver Mt. Zion, Frank Fairfield, Honey Honey, Tune-Yards, Alabama Shakes, Father John Misty, Mima, First Aid Kit, Metric, Regina Spektor, At the Drive In, The Mountain Goats, Miles Davis, The Avett Brothers, Mirah, Florence and the Machine....it changes a lot.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've seen the sunrise in the desert without another human for miles. I've watched the sunset over the Acropolis. I've danced until dawn in Argentina. I've loved without regret.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach english, how to drive a manual, a little guitar, how to change a flat tire on a bicycle. I want to learn more spanish and some italian.
