About Me

I grew up in a small town in the very south of Germany, but the last years I lived in Munich, Innsbruck and Omaha (USA) for my studies.
I just came back from the US a couple of months ago and it was quite an experience to live in the conservative Midwest during the presidential election (especially since my believes are very liberal).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love the idea of Couchsurfing, because it brings people together and creates a win-win situation for everyone. It can be your backup plan if you end up at a place where you cannot find any cheap accommodation like hostels. Or it can be your first choice if you want to get to know locals and meet new people. And ideally you get along so well with the other couchsurfer that you made a new friend in the end ;-)

Interests

I'm a pretty active and outdoorsy person and I like to travel and hike whenever I have the opportunity. I'm a big fan of backpacking and my best trips were probably the one's where I spent the fewest money.

Besides that I'm interested in many topics and can easily end up in a passionate discussion about various things, like politics, culture, society or history. For me it's always interesting to hear other people's perspective on a topic, especially when that person has a different background or comes from a different country.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm always excited to learn new interesting things! Especially if someone tells me the answer to a question that I always (secretely) had in my mind but never took the time to actually google it.

My two favorites of this month:
- Why are human babies so incredibly dependent? Most animal babies can walk almost right after they are born, but our babies can't do anything but cry!
- Why is there such a big contrast between the rich nations in North America (US and Canada) and the rest of the nations on the Americas? All of them were founded by European immigrants, so what is the reason for this very different development?
If you want to know the answer to these questions, you have to visit me or host me :D

Also, many of my German friends asked me how such a highly developed country like the US could end up with a leader like Trump? During my time in the US I found some interesting answers to that question!
