ABOUT ME

There's not enough room for "all about me".

Come from a big family, like group activities - thus living "a big family" without having one of my own...

I love MUSIC - almost all kinds. There's a musical style for any mood. Love the lyrics, too (I'm a linguist!). Love movies, books, esotera, discussing philosophies, nice food (prefer vegetables and fish to meat, no fanatic veggie).

I like having a good time with friends (in an out) but don't see myself as party animal. I am no fashion addict at all. When I go out, I accept your smoking, but I do not like it at all at my home (smells indoors or in the furniture, sorry)

I do backpacking travels or would like to caravan. There's still so much of the world to discover. It's a hunger for new food for thought, sight and soul.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Oct 08: just joining, want to be active in Francfort area group. I like to meet people, be a host and get to travel more again.

I'm new on CS project, but I grew up with the spirit of "open your house, your life, your mind and heart to the world": in a big family (5 sisters & brothers) with lots of friends coming around and frequently hosting friends from our French twin town (Northern France).

Ever since, I've been hosting and surfing couches of my many siblings, friends, student and travel buddies from everywhere around the world.

I heard about CS on the radio some years ago (old website). This summer, when my niece went off to Sydney/OZ telling me she would be couch surfing for the first days, I felt it's time NOW for me to join CS ....

None so far on this internet CS project.

Intereses

MUSIC - Music is my great love. I mostly hear music, sang in a choir for some years, will maybe again soon. Always check the lyrics, for their philosophy or sophistication. (Sorry, I'm a language analyst/translator)

PHILOSOPHIES - There are so many different approaches to the things in life - and if we can find a grain of sand of new inspiration in it - let's go for it!

FOOD - cooking with/for friends, trying new cuisines. Prefer tea to coffee - means I do not have reasonable coffee at home that you might like.

SPORTS - I admit, I could do more (like cycling but I am a bit lazy). However, you can rely on me as a walking buddy, great endurance and no vertigo, sure footed when off-road. Or, will we go canoeing ? Love it.

Sport things I want to do: canoe the Mecklenburger Seas, cycling tour on river Loire and Donau. Mountain Trekking tour.

MOVIES: Harry & Sally, L'auberge espagnole - Barcelona for 1 year, The Fabulous World of Amelie, Keinohrhasen, Terms of Endearment, Nell, Dances with Wolves, Priscilla - Queen of the Desert, Kite runners, What the bleep do we know...

Serious or funny movies - you name it.
You would not, however, find me in "Silence of the Lambs" or any "Die hard/Rambo" update.

Want to discuss about remarkable ACTORS in the respective decades and countries?! There are quite a few worth mentioning IMO - too much to list here.

MUSIC: For every mood, there is a piece of music. I honour good music wherever I come accross it. Might be a nobody in the street or a talented new musician or an old idol. Depends on the music played and not on the name.

I like melodic and expressive music in Pop, Jazz, Classics (piano - as with David Gray, Coldplay, Billy Joel, Queen ... guitar/bass - Sting, Charlie Haden, Eric Clapton ... saxophone/trumpet - Stan Getz, Curtis Stigers, Till Brönner, Chet Baker ... early U2 and Simply Red ... or beautiful voices, A-Capella or not - Ella & Satchmo, Dinah Washington, Oleta Adams, Fairuz, die Knef, Lizz Wright, Naturally 7, Beautiful South, Brel, Moustaki, Denver, Mr. Cash, Nat King Cole, Robbie Williams, Pavarotti, Bocelli and Paul Potts ... even a typical "Maennergesangsverein" ) and lots of the musicians you currently hear on the radio.

Baroque music (much of Mozart and Haendel) took me through my diploma. Spheric music for relaxing (Vangelis, Air, Didgeridoo or World Tribal Music, or Dewa Che's Healing chants).
Special projects like Die Dissidenten with the Moroccan Royal Orchestra, Das Rilke Projekt or alike. Of course, the Beatles, the King and much of Rock'n'Roll. Even in most weird music styles, you can find jewel pieces. If it touches me in a special way, its ok with me, whatever it might be rated oficially.

I hear funky music when cleaning my appartment and I sing in my car. I sang in a jazz choir for some years and maybe will soon again.

3 music things I want to do: go to Montreux Jazz Festival & to London for Last Night of the Proms & a concert at Sydney Opera.

Checked in for a 5-week trip to Australia with a total baggage weight of 9kg incl. sleeping bag & medical equipment (well, came back with approx 30 kg.) Won a guitar with a drawing about music.
LIVED:
The passing away of our father. All my life through: unexpected kindness and true friendship of people from all over the world.

Enseña, aprende, comparte

Teach: German language-maybe; foot massage; :-) quick menues; you are not as chaotic as you think...
Learn: patience, sewing, being on time more often, laugh at least 5x a day... and all those things you can teach me of which I didn't know that I would need them...
Share: my appartment, open talks & love for music, nice food & good times, lots of fun, walks or sightseeing tours, bricolage?
