ABOUT ME

I´m Dorothee and on tour since mid of April 2013.

Canada was my first destination and I was traveling and working here for about 10 month. It was quite an experience. I had hardly any English skills at the beginning of my travels and now I think it´s much better.

My journey started on Vancouver Island (6 weeks on Metchosin Farm as WOOFer), through BC with my camper van. Then I was working as dishwasher, housekeeper, preppcook and server in 3Valley Gap near Revelstoke for 3 month. In October and November I traveled to the other side of Canada by car. That was quite an experience and I was pretty excited about that. I saw a lot of different areas and amazing landscapes. That was the most beautiful part for me. I met people from all different countries and learned a lot about the different cultures. After a meditation course in Quebec I went back to the Rockies. And since the beginning of December I´m working as a server in a hotel.

Even I´m here only for a few months, I bought a sewing machine and borrowed a guitar. I also like to read a lot and I love to communicate with people. My camera travels always with me as you see on my many pictures.

I´m 28 years old and my home destination is Germany, about 1,5h southeast from Stuttgart. We call it the swabian alb. I hope to meet amazing people during my travels and also to learn more about the different cultures and countries.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My best couchsurfing experience was in Peterborough - Ontario - Canada. I booked the day before a hostel. Some hostel give you for the booking only the area and if they get the 10% booking money you get the adress. So I was not surprised as I didn´t had the adress and went to Peterborough with the greyhound bus. I went to a small coffeebar and drank a hot chocolate as I checked my e-mails. I didn´t got the adress of the hostel. Ever. A girl beside me was talking to me and during the next two hours she was calling some friends and where asking them where I could sleep. It endet that I was meeting a lot of her friends and slept two nights at a friends place. - Wow. There are really amazing people in that world.

Interests

I love to sew. My favorite is to sew all kind of bags. Reading in English and German. Listening to music, singing, playing harmonica and guitar.
My camera travels always with me as you see on my many pictures on my blog.
I love to communicate with people. And I like good food. And to try different types of food.
