About Me

I enjoy traveling (who doesn't), games (mostly card games), food (currently on a health kick so doing the Organic, green thing at the moment, but this comes and goes), loves animals (mostly dogs and yet currently without one but learning to love cats), enjoys learning & philosophical discussions, technology, politics, financial discussions, enjoys movies (and Winchester's Film Club that I miss all too regularly but still enjoy).

In 2019 an exchange student from Indonesia lived with me for his 11th grade school year.

I am in long term recovery from addictions and active in a Twelve Step recovery program, a liberal/progressive, and an open source software developer. I don't (drink or) smoke.

I grew up in Ohio and Michigan, went to college at Cornell in upstate New York, served in the Air Force as a Lieutenant in San Antonio, stayed in Texas for a total of 19 years, lived in Florida for 10, and now live in Virginia.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am interested in Couchsurfing based on the experiences of my friend Gary and his wife Wendy have been doing this for 12 years. I'm interested in meeting interesting people. It also seems like a fantastic way to travel and experience new locations as a local.

Music, Movies, and Books

In movies, I'll watch anything sci-fi, especially Time Travel.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of my best experiences traveling was hiking up the Cliff's of Moher walking on our local guide Patrick's childhood land, chatting with him as he showed us his amazing backyard, and what it was like growing up there.

Last night I was at dinner with new friends. One of them said that they are going to Paris this year, as part of an on-going bucket list they are doing to honor a family member who died too young -- basically doing his bucket list. I am blessed (or lucky or fortunate) to not only be alive, but to have done most or all of this bucket list already. I haven't done just one amazing thing. I've done an amazing number of amazing things. Thank you Universe, for giving me such a wonderful life.
