About Me

I find pleasure in adrenaline and authenticity, in exploring far-off lands, in probing my immediate environs, in satisfying curiosity, in creating, competing, learning, and working with my hands. I thrive in the wild, play as many sports as possible, love the mountains, enjoy making and viewing art, and often escape through books and film. I prefer substance to form but still appreciate the latter.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like people and love getting to know anyone new - especially if we can share things that enrich each other's lives. CS is a great community, and the people I've met through it have all been wonderful. Have surfed a few times (all great experiences) and am happy to host when I am not traveling. Have also enjoyed CS meetups.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: My likes range from The Brian Jonestown Massacre to Regina Spektor, The Doors, The Velvet Underground, Menomena, Pixies, Bill Withers, The Lumineers, Death Cab for Cutie, Warren Zevon, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Atmosphere, Rammstein, Alt-J, Mumford and Sons, and Nirvana. Really, I like something from almost every genre I've listened to.

Movies: Many, including Requiem for a Dream, Fight Club, L'Avventura, Breaking Away, M, Dr. Strangelove, The Fast Runner, and The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.

Early Nietzsche, also Camus and Kafka. Books: Tolkien's big 4, Catch 22, Sometimes A Great Notion, The Picture of Dorian Gray...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Completed a 4,000+ mile solo and unsupported bicycle trip across the U.S.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm pretty chill and really just like connecting with people. I can share stories about my experiences, lots of random knowledge, and good conversation. If a host is interested in exploring the area with me, in having some drinks, playing a board game, or making dinner together, I'll almost certainly be down.
