Hi, we’re Edu and Margot! Edu, 28 years old, is from Spain and Margot, 25 years old, is from the Netherlands. We met in the Netherlands, Utrecht, some years ago when Edu was studying cultural anthropology and Margot was studying history. After our studies, we worked for a year and then quit our job to go traveling! In April 2022 we started backpacking in Southeast Asia, beginning in Thailand. After working in Australia, we’re now back in Europe for a bit. We really enjoy meeting new people and discovering new cultures. Especially the (vegetarian) food ;) We’re both very open-minded people and love the outdoors. During our travels we often go for a hike and whenever possible for a swim. But sometimes we also like to take it easy, chill, and have a beer. Maybe our next one is with you?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We’re both open-minded persons and we love meeting new people, hearing their stories and learning about their culture. Everyone has a different outlook on life and every outlook is interesting to us. In every country there are different traditions, festivities, habits and ways of living and loving, and we’re keen to learn about every one of them! No better way to do this than meeting the locals :)

Music, Movies, and Books

We’re both music lovers and especially love rock music. Edu has a wide range of music interests and Margot is more into reggae, techno, dnb, trance. We both like watching movies (directors: Wes Anderson, Quentin Tarantino, Terry Gilliam) and TV series, especially true crime and nature documentaries. We enjoy watching (old) movies which are psychedelic or which make you think about life, such as La Montana Sagrada, La Planete Sauvage, Enter the Void, Samsara, Koyaanisqatsi, Stalker, The Lobster, A Space Odyssee, Into the Wild.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

So hard to choose! One of the amazing things we’ve done together is scuba diving in Thailand and Malaysia. It’s an incredible experience and we’ve seen sharks, turtles, squids, and so many fishes.
