Hey there! My name is Egor, pronounced "Yegor", few can pronounce on the first try (especially the French, when I say my name in Starbucks). But no offence taken, only in rare cases.

In fact, this year I got my BA in journalism at the faculty of journalism in MSU, but it happened that my childhood dream of being a historian has led me along the path of historical educational projects and it's still my ruling passion. I worked in various projects as a writer, an editor or a scriptwriter, but this summer I got a dream job at Michail Zygar's (famous Russian writer) agency and now I am engaged in various projects and his new book. Also I continue my studies to get Master of History, but I'm not as boring as you may think.

For instance, I am on the edge of my seat when Ariana Grande releases a new song or RuPaul mocks at the contestants, also I try to take in contemporary art and cinematography. In my spare time I like reading different smart books, stroking cats and draw maps (no kidding!). It may seem that I would be too shy and reticent but when I get some red wine (or even without it) we will exchange niceties and I may seem a chatterbox. Actually a have the common touch and can both enjoy the cut and thrust of a clever historical or social debate and do a hatchet job over a new TV series on Netflix.

Two months ago I started practicing vegetarianism and I do realise that raw is also good)

P.S. Please don't ask me about Putin from the doorway, don't spoil your appetite! I'd rather tell you about the Soviet Union or Catherine the Great :D

Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin

It goes without saying that I love travelling. Last year I spent 8 months in Paris on a student exchange program (I studied history at the Sorbonne and worked in a bar). This experience broadened my horizons and showed me that it's much more impressively to travel not just to the country, but to mentality! How interesting it could be when you meet real people instead of an isolated hotel room.

But there are also mercancy motives. Workers of creative industry (especially beginners like me) don't earn much or sometimes live on a shoestring, thanks to exchange rate. So if you take me in it would be a golden opportunity)

Musik, Filme und Bücher

I love almost all pop music - Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, etc. Maybe someone knows Marina (and The Diamonds)?

Between you and me, cinematography is my blind spot, especially now, when Hollywood has deteriorated noticeably. But I love Tim Burton, Pirates of the Caribbean and Disney princesses :D

My favorite series is Game of Thrones. The books are far better, though [ardent fan's shout], I really love the Handmaid's Tale, Chernobyl (too close to my heart) and Years and Years.

As to my favorite books I better not start - everything is clear (a lot of history, dystopian, fantasy and a little bit of sentimentalism from 18th century)

Furthermore, I am fond of psychology, anthropology, ecology, literature and international politics. All these things are not just beer and skittles for me, they became my second nature as I gained experience in teaching at school

I can share with you my modest knowledge of history, heartbreaking stories about harsh Russian reality or exchange some thoughts on eternity. Oh, and certainly caviar and balalaika (unfortunately without vodka and bears, it is impossible to take them in hand luggage)
