Hi there wonderful humans! I’m Eline, always love to host, so please feel welcome at my place in lovely Leiden~ I just finished my master's degree in East Asian Studies. My dream for the future would be to work abroad as a journalist or documentary maker, but figuring things out along the way! Previously, I spent a year living and studying in Taipei, which was just amazing. :) In my free time, I like chilling with friends, going on adventures, reading, listening to music, doing yoga, and cooking/eating food! Especially Chinese food! I'm also very passionate about the environment. And I'm a huge tea nerd, so we can drink a sophisticated cup of tea together when you're at my place! I also loooove languages so I would always love to learn a bit of your language or I can teach you a language! 還有，如果你也說中文的話，我們可能用中文聊天！ When I'm in a new place, I always love to just roam around, observe the people, look at the beautiful buildings and nature, but what I always cherish the most are the interactions with the people I'm meeting on my way. I just always get so much enjoyment out of that and you always learn something new. :) I love meeting new friends from all around the globe, I hope you can be one of them. 😊 I work a 9-5 and have to commute, so please keep in mind the early wake up time when you stay with me during the week. ;) During evenings and weekends I'm all ears to listen to your stories and dreams and could even potentially show you around Leiden. :D

Music, Movies, and Books
Some of my favorite artists are: Tom Rosenthal, Spinvis, Polo Pan, Nina Simone, Marina, Cat Stevens, Little Simz, Aurora, Angèle, Phoebe Bridgers, Pink Floyd, The Mamas and The Papas, Shpongle, Fleetwood Mac, Pomme and many more! I really like songs in different languages, in my Spotify account, I made special playlists for songs in Mandarin, French, Nepalese, Arabic and Korean. I'm also a big fan of the psychedelic music style. If you have any recommendations for my playlists, let me know! My favorite movies are Amélie, Chungking Express, and Parasite, I also really like to watch documentaries and I love the Studio Ghibli movies :) also whatever Joachim Trier produces usually has me hooked. I read a lot of books :D lately mostly into (Chinese) literature
One Amazing Thing I've Done
My travel and couchsurfing memories are amongst my favorite memories of all of them. (I will probably talk a lot about it when we meet :p) a few examples: - solo travels to Nepal!! - showing my beautiful city (Leiden) to all the couchsurfers that come to visit me and some of them becoming close friends :) - hitchhiking and couchsurfing in Taiwan and being in constant awe with how incredibly friendly everyone is - traveling around South-Korea with my Korean friend whom I met in Taiwan

I can teach you some Dutch or other languages! I can also tell you a lot about my other interests mentioned above and just generally tell you a lot about The Netherlands and Dutch culture! When you're visiting me in Leiden, I can show you around the city :)
