About Me
I'm Ellie. Hi!
Pretty much everything fascinates me and i love learning, but particularly environmental science. Im always up for trying something new. I'm very outdoorsy, and rarely go anywhere without my bike...although I moved to the south of Spain without it which is an experience!
Indoors is nice too. Cooking with friends, especially veggie healthy stuff is fun, or games & movie nights. Great conversation and a beverage on a night in is the best.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To meet great people while i discover greatnplaces. Its so good to have a place to stay with a friendly, more authentic atmosphere.
I often travel by bike, on foot or via trains so couch surfing means I can look forward to knowing I won't be pitching a tent by the roadside in the rain!
I've met lots of friendly people through cycling but I'might new to couch surfing so I'm looking forward to the idea of a planned night's rest!
Interests
Cycling and cycle touring, hiking/walking, live music, cooking & baking, nature (bit of a bird geek), books, running, swimming, a bit of video gaming, learning guitar & piano, traveling (of course!), and trying all sorts of new things!
I'm an English teacher, so I can help if you need language practice. I'd love to practice spanish and french too! I was also trained as a mechanic if you have a rusty bike in need of a spruce.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like all sorts of music, and loads of books! I read a bit of anything from classics to sci fi to non fiction, but i really like...
Guy de Maupassant
Haruki Murakami
Henry James
Rudyard Kipling
Also things like Arabian Nights, and lots of stand-alone books as opposed to authors, one being 'Reading Lolita in Tehran'.
The book is always better than the movie, i think. But i love movies too - they spread across loads of genres but i like independent cinema, and films from all over the world. I never sed to watch movies or TV much so some friends have been educating me more recently with their pick of the best.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Experiencing so much kindness and generosity of people as I cycled around some of Europe. Being picked up in the dark and cold when my bike was broken, being ivies to stay and cooked for, taken to the bike shop... People are great!
What I Can Share with Hosts
Right now I'm an English teacher, so I can help if you need language practice. I'd love to practice spanish and french too!
Trained as a bike mechanic, i can certainly tweak an old rusty set of wheels if theres one hiding in your cellar.
I enjoy cooking & baking if you want to share a meal. I bake a mean flapjack, and I'm keen on healthy veggie/vegan food. You'd be surprised how good it tastes if you're not used to it :)
I'll get stuck in with anything - if you need dog walking, gardening, chores, DIY or help with any jobs I'll happily lend a hand.
