Overview
About Me
I am a well-seasoned person and a well-seasoned traveler. I am opinionated but open-minded. I grew up in a time of sweeping social change in Montreal, a bilingual city with a multitude of cultures, potholes, great cuisine, and noted festivals. Now on the Joisey Shore, I enjoy the beauty and tranquility of nearby beaches and woods, not to mention the brashness and bustle of the Big Apple.
In my early travels, I visited, worked and lived in Tokyo, 2 kibbutzim in Israel and Sydney Australia. I have passed through many continents as both a backpacker and with family in tow. Ready to explore again.
I make very bad puns. It goes without saying I am a lover of words and image.
I am told I have an ironic sense of humor.
Besides French and Spanish, I know bits of Malay, Hebrew and Japanese, probably mostly 4-letter words :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love to exchange ideas, learn about other people and cultures. I am also at a stage where I can afford the time to enjoy these things, now that I have fewer family and work constraints.
Interests
I have a serious interest in art /language/ linguistics, and a not so serious interest in philosophy and politics. Cooking and eating good food is a passion. Enjoy good wine and an occasional cocktail with good company. Many a late-night discussion on offbeat outside-the-box topics have taken place in my kitchen and in front of the fireplace.

Music, Movies, and Books
Love Indie and foreign films and noirish series. Hooked on Netflix. I love all kinds of music blues, folk, jazz, classical, 60's, Javanese gamalan and more. My reading interests are too numerous to list. For the moment, I tend to only read Time Magazine in an attempt to keep informed.NPR is a must in the car: I have been known to be late for work in order to listen to a fascinating interview.
Teach, Learn, Share
