HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am planning a rail trip across Europe in 2015 and would appreciate some couches along the way. Sometimes I would be able to offer a couch/spare room in north Wales.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love books and films. At the moment I'm reading Out Stealing Horses by Per Petterson. I love books and films that transport me to a dreamy wilderness. I also love thrillers and crime fiction. Some films I've seen and enjoyed lately are: A Place Beyond The Pines, Mesrine, The Guard. Music-wise I adore The Smiths and Morrissey, Beirut, Iron and Wine, Kate Bush, Interpol, Joy Division. In short - allsorts.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Walking the Quilotoa loop in Ecuador and camping in the crater - waking up with the sun right next to the lagoon. Seeing a herd of wild ponies galloping across the fields with Cotopaxi in the background.

Sitting in a bird reserve, sheltering in the hide from the driving rain. A bolt of lightening hit the ground right in front of the shelter, sending hundreds of birds out of nowhere up into the air, frenzied - before they settled back down and disappeared from sight once more.

Sitting on some rocks with sea all around me, in a bay on the west coast of Scotland, not a soul around. I was sipping whisky and watching the sunset when an otter appeared, swimming and hunting just a few metres away.

Teach, Learn, Share

I like meeting people who are interested in nature and would be able to share knowledge about wild things - I especially love birds and would like to learn more about them. I don't know what I could offer - I could teach you a little Welsh if you like.
