ABOUT ME

Kaixo! (Which means Hello in Basque) I am from Donsotia San Sebastian, Basque Country coast, (in Spain but close to the border of France).

I love to travel and know new places and I am not afraid to travel alone if it is necessary. I especially like to live for a time in a foreigner country knowing the local culture more deeply. I lived in Cameroon for some months in Norway for a year and in the USA for less than a year, besides Basque Country.

I studied photography and art history and I am currently doing historical research. Besides that, I focused my career in the Museum world, working in

PHILOSOPHY

Travelling and living in new countries/places is the best school for life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because all what couchsurfing means.

Interests

I love Arts in general but especially "bi dimensional arts", painting, drawing, engravings and the top for me photography, which I am in since 17.

I studied photography for three years . At the begining I started taking photos in black and white, but soon under the influence of the book Spiritual in Art by Wassily Kandisky, I started taking photos in colour where still I am.

As I explained before I think paiting and photography despite the apparance are very close. They have different languages but they work under the same rules. My photographical influences are Alexander Rodchenko, Robert Frank and his books, William Klein, and in colour Steve Mccurry, Stephen Shore, William Eggleston and the Basque photographers Xabi otero and Jon Cazenave.

Mainly now I am developing different projects with Landscape photography. Check my webpage:

I am also into the photobook world. I did three photobooks about different countries during my different travels.

My other side in the arts world it is an medieval art history researcher. Europe and especially Spain is full of undervalueted antiche and medival art.
The last year of school I did a research about a really damaged medieval paintings in Navarre Spain that finally I rebuilded using digital techniques.
You can see that in my main webpage.

Besides that I love walking into museums and discovering collections and exihibits.

I have live in Norway and USA for a year and in both countries I had a great expereince in overall, despite sometimes it was difficult to adapt into the new country sometimes. At the end the overall experience opens you new doors in your mind. I think that everybody should try to live in other country, at least, for a short time.

Obviuslly I like to know new people and cultures and add new points of view to my life. And to listen to good stories.

I love cooking when I have time and it relax me a lot. I know too cook Spanish traditional food, but of course I am open to cook new recipies.

I am into beers (crafted beers) and Whisky.

Among sports I love surfing (something I can do 5 minutes from my house in San Sebastian), skiing and hiking, biking, and running.

And, I like to hang out at nights especially when it is about to discover new places.

Music, Movies, and Books

If I have to speak about music I would say I like music, how have a spirit, an autenticity inside. I like all kind of music and sounds if they have a soul and message inside. Not commercial shit. And of course,The type music I hear depends on my mood.

I feel a especially atraction for the instrumental music. And also I love going to hear live music. Prog rock, 70s rock, heavy metal and metal, Jazz, Rap, classical music (Grieg my favourite), and ethinc music.

Movies: I love All cinema classics, but my favorite genres are the sci-fi, fantasy, Historical, Realistic, terror movies spaghetti westerns, Netflix and HBO TV shows.

Now I do read a lot Art books and essays about culture or history. But time to time I love to read a good novel and immerse myself in the plot of the novel.
I also love to read cooking recipe books.
