Back when I was an undergraduate student, alone abroad and completely broke, without anybody to turn to, the couchsurfing community showed me there is still good people around willing to lend a hand. It was quite a life-changing experience, that's why -despite not travelling and not being able to host at the moment (I don't own a place, looking forward to be able to host in the future)- I am still a member and will remain so for as long as I can.
