Overview
About Me
I was born in the United States to Korean parents and spent most of my life there. However, after finishing university, I moved to South Korea to study and then to work. Since then, I have lived in China , Morocco, Switzerland, and Germany for both short and long-term academic programs.
Most of my professional career has been at a university as an English instructor and administrative coordinator. Initially, I coordinated between the English Department and all other university departments. Now, I coordinate between my university and other universities based overseas. I also translate policy documents from Korean into English.
My personal interests are reading, cycling, and studying foreign languages. In particular, I like Japanese novelists from both the early 20th century like Soseki, but also more modern writers such as Murakami, Higashino, etc. I also like long-distance cycling; I have cycled in France, Switzerland, Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, Italy, the United States, Japan, and South Korea. Lastly, I enjoy studying foreign languages. I've studied around 6 or 7 and would like to eventually speak around 10.
Hope to meet you soon.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I would to share with people from around the world my dual cultural heritage. I have many things to offer in terms of cultural insights, which are hopefully informative and interesting. I would also like to learn about other cultures through discussing and debating cultural, political, economic, social, and historical issues.
