About Me

CURRENT MISSION

live, learn, and share

ABOUT ME

This is an amazing planet we live on. I love to walk on it, treat it with respect, and marvel at its wonders. I like to read and to listen to stories, to share laughter, and to meet and speak with all kinds of people.

PHILOSOPHY

"I long for people through whom the past, in its large lines, continues to be connected with us, related to us." - Rilke

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have hosted and surfed in the past, and thoroughly enjoyed both. I also enjoy meeting up with random people in my hometown and abroad to go for walks, chat, and drink coffee or tea. I'm currently traveling in Europe for several months, so I can't accept guests at the moment.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

All the couchsurfers I've met so far have been been terrific. A kind, varied, and thoroughly interesting bunch of people.

Interests

Watching movies, being in the forest, riding my bicycle, seeing and hearing and feeling things new and old. Art and life and everything in between.

Music, Movies, and Books

Bely, Bowles, Bulgakov, Cartarescu, Joyce, Mann, Stein, Tolstoy, Woolf, Altman, Baumbach, Brakhage, Fassbinder, Pialat, Bach, Cohen, Dylan, Sandro Perri, Neil Young and many others, as well as some I hope you'll recommend to me.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My first big solo trip: In 2005 I travelled overland from Istanbul to Beijing via Eastern Europe, Russia and Mongolia. It took three months. The waters of Lake Baikal viewed from Olkhon Island at sunset is something I will never forget. The wooden houses and kind people I encountered, especially in northern Romania, inspired me, upon returning home to Canada, to build a small log cabin of my own using pine trees on a lake north of Toronto.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a good listener. I want to learn as much as I possibly can. I can share some stories of my travels and my life.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A kind word and a peaceful heart. I could teach you how to play guitar. I could read you a poem if you want, but if you don't want me to read you a poem, that's totally cool. I understand that not everyone likes poetry.

Countries I’ve Visited
