About Me

CURRENT MISSION

See as much of this beautiful as I can.

ABOUT ME

Well, I would not say this was everything about me, but I do love to travel--mostly for the scenery--been to more than 40 countries and hope to see some more. I really enjoy doing science, if one has to have a job, and hope to get a job working on the Antarctica peninsula some time.
I really enjoy the outdoors, hiking, climbing, skiing, snowboarding, running, playing soccer and Ultimate, biking, gardening, you name it.
I also really like my cat, and cats in general. The rest you will have to find out on your own when you meet me.

PHILOSOPHY

I really do believe in Good Karma. I think that trying to do what you think other's should do is the first step. I also believe that the body is where we really live and that taking care of it will make you happier and mentally happier. I guess related to that is I believe in personal responsibility--bad things happen to everyone--it's how you respond to them that makes you who you are.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Just starting out couch surfing, but I have spent many a month traveling the world and the US staying on friends' floors and couches. Guess I am just expanding my definition of friends. I do have a couch, but it is not very comfy and my place is small. Once I get a new couch or a bigger place, I'll do more hosting.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Not yet. Though many a fond memory of friends' couches.

Interests

I like lots of stuff: outdoor stuff; reading; traveling (big surprise there); science; Norse Sagas of the Vineland; the Polar regions!

Fantasy, silly murder mysteries with cats as the heroes, Robertson Davies, natural history, Thich Nhat Hanh, the Dalai Lama

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Watched the green flash as the sun set over the Royal Society Mts in Antarctica.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have taught hundreds of folks to snowboard and I have a lot of experience with both soccer and Ultimate. I love biology and am always eager to share what I know and learn more.
