The world appears to be small and yet wide: Small enough to be travelled by simple means, yet so wide, that there is always more to be discoved in every place. Travelling for me is a way to undergo a metamorphosis ; and when there is no way back to what I was before, it feels like some kind of magic has happened.

Meeting people has been a key to great inspiration ; And what is meeting people but to be able to communicate with them? So when joining a new cultural space, learning to express myself in the local language becomes my first motivation. What a joy, when books, lyrics, films, or simply the tales & talking of the people become accessible, intellegible! How wonderful, when people can tell me their stories, jokes and feelings in their own language! That is where their communication is the most free.

To me, culture compares to the waves on the surface of a lake. Each impact, by objects falling into the water, by the wind stroking the surface, ..., all that merges to into a very specific landscape, where nothing is separated from its surrounding. Culture is alive, dynamic, something that we shape by living it, rather than something predefined that we have to fit into. Instead of being confined or defined by some external culture, it is us who manifest culture in every single decision or non-decision from within.
