About Me

Hello!

I'm here to meet new people, exchange impressions about the world, host and be hosted with people that want to share good vibes.

I love to cook, ride bicycles, go on hikes, learn new languages, read and talk about life, the universe and everything. Let's connect!

I'm writing a book about my round the world travels, sharing the process at http://eusouatoa.substack.com/ (in portuguese).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

This is the best network ever invented!

I've surfed in a lot of countries in Europe, Mexico and Brasil and met amazing people everywhere I went.

I'm always available for tea, coffee, fruit juice, beer, wine, gin&tonics... I can't host at the moment, but I hope I can start hosting soon.

Interests

I'm mostly interested in travelling (of course!), cooking, reading literature, writing, design, photography and folding origami.

I like to hear and tell stories. Being in contact with people with different cultures and interests is what drives me to travel further and further.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: all I can get my hands on. LOVE fairy tales (old and new), Guimarães Rosa, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Neil Gaiman, Hilda Hilst, Angélica Freitas, Ryszard Kapuściński, George R. R. Martin, Haruki Murakami, Paula Chiziane, Mia Couto, Pepetela, Hunter S. Thompson, Jack Kerouac, Cecília Meireles, Anaïs Nin, Georges Bataille, Carlos Drummond de Andrade, Paulo Mendes Campos, Clarice Lispector, Fernando Sabino, Ana Martins Marques, Gay Talese, Manoel de Barros (and the list goes on...)

Music: a lot of jazz, afrobeat, chorinho, rock, tropicalia, cumbia, salsa and a little bit of this and that. I love making my computer fatter with good music from around the globe. Please share yours, I'll share mine!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Talking to a burmese monk about politics in one of the monasteries that started the saffron revolution in 2007. This was in 2012, while I was doing a round the world trip. I cried so much after it, for the hardness of the life there and also for thinking myself so lucky to live in this world and see kindness and happiness even where it´s so difficult.

"Couchsurfing" with a Bedouin family in Petra, Jordan. The mother, 30 years old, has 5 children and is pregnant again. She met me on the bus and, seeing that I was alone, invited me to stay with her and her family. They opened their house to me, introduced me to the whole family and took me to Petra through a Bedouin route where no tourists go. Unforgettable.

The salt desert in Bolivia - amazing! I couldn't stop staring at the white wilderness.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach how to cook brazilian, mexican and thai food (my style :P), how to fold origami and also help with portuguese, spanish and english language.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Stories, laughter, music from everywhere and, most importantly, my time. We all have a limited amount of it and never know when it's going to end, so I wanna spend it with the best experiences. Getting involved with the couchsurfing community is definitely leading me to them.
