About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To do extremely stupid things in a moderately safe way.

ABOUT ME

I'm an acrobat, language nerd, and carpenter. I studied dead languages and a few living ones. Rather than pursue a conventional career path, I ran away to join the circus. I spent as much time upside down as possible.

PHILOSOPHY

Meditation, honesty, and compassion. After that, just have fun. You only live once... Or maybe you don't. I don't know.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Well, I don't currently have a couch to offer as I live in an a small communal space. But I'd be down to entertain and show people around. I like to teach people really weird things. I like to learn new weird things.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I spent three months living on my aunt's couch in Hawaii. I got a part-time job, hitchhiked around the island. It was extremely enjoyable. Other than that, it's just been a few weeks here and there on family and friends' couches. Often enjoyable. Lately, couchsurfing has led to Southern California and circus stuff.

Interests

Circus stuff: Chinese pole, partner acrobatics, cordelisse, fire. If you can climb it, I'm probably down.

Languages of current interest are Spanish and Japanese.

Also, I play Go. If you've even heard of Go, I will be stoked. If you want to play it with me, I will be... whatever is higher than 'stoked' on the excited list.

Music, Movies, and Books

Current trends towards glitch hop. I listen to a lot of stuff.

I love the Coen brothers films. Sunshine and The Fountain are recent films that stand out. Also, Daniel Day Lewis is amazing.

I read lots of eclectic things. Recent trends in Buddhism, Linguistics, Post-Modernism, and Science-Fiction.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have stood in desert whiteouts, unable to see six story structures thirty meters in front of me. I've ridden down a water slide built seamlessly into a real waterfall.

Oh and there was that one time I jumped off a cliff while wearing a bathrobe engulfed in three meters of flame.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can give basic instructions in home repair, wood working, basic auto maintenance, general language structure/grammar, and I teach circus arts professionally.

I am willing to learn just about anything. I'm curious about everything from the production of textiles to interesting forms of slang.
